View Full Version : Completely Stuck Again 2/Same prob

Hi, Okay I've tried and tried with a friend as well to fix this problem and it will not go away. I've tried assigning it a xyz to uvw map with the same channel.

Here is the file its got a basic biped setup doing a laugh animation, included is the texture that is causing the problem is it a bug in max? I dont know what is causing it to go crazy

Any help appreciated

Ok, I came up with errors when I opened this file (no character studio here) But I think I know what your problem is...

On the guys body, under the meshsmooth, is that modifier physique? (it comes up as missing OSM here) If so, thats your problem. Everything goes up the stack in order, so at the moment, the object is being deformed by physique, then is being meshsmoothed then is having the procedural converted from the world space to the object space & locked.

the problem is, because it is deformed before the texture is locked in place, at each frame the UVW map is essentially getting a completely different model, so the texture would be in different places.. see?

The solution is easy, lock your texture in place before deforming the mesh, so just move your UVW modifier from the top of the stack, to just under physique... :)

Man, I am overjoyed, thanks soooooo much a simple thing like that caused me sooo much headache. Really appreciate all the help and time you've taken to help me fix it.

And its been a huge learning experience!
