This is a first image from the main character for my upcoming shortmovie.
It's not yet the final skin as I have just started with painting the textures.
Any critics and suggestions are welcome.

The subtle hint of abdominal muscles fits well with the overall fat to tone symmetry.
Of course I haven't seen a butt shot yet.
The curvature of the torso to wais to thighs is right on for the age of the female and her build.
Did you use a displacement map for the abs and serratus tie-ins?
PS Did you do this in LW?

i like the details in the nipples and the navel...
but (and idont kwon if you consider your image a WIP)
there is a little detail...
between the shoulders the bones (i dont know how to translate "CLAVICULA") seems to be a bit sharp...
So congratulations... is a great archivement.
please comment the materials, I looking some advice in S3 and fR.

Thanks for all the comments.
I did some more work on the textures and created a different lighting setup.
You may notice some texture tiling as i have not yet unwraped the mesh for correct mapping.
Heimdall: It was created in 3dsmax. No displacement used, everything was modelled.
Korben: Yes you are right those bones between the shoulders look a little bit sharp from this perspective. I might take a look at that later, thanks.
No images from the head yet as I still have to change a few details on the character mesh and finish the texturing and animation setup (muscle deformations)
As for the shortmovie, I still have a lot of work to do so I don't yet know when it will be finished.
The story will be centered around that female character.
CHRiTTeR, orion 77 : she will be wearing a bikini.
But i don't want to tell too much about the story right now.

You did this in 3DMAX?!?! I didn't think this was really possible. I only have max3, but I haven't been able to really do this. I take it you used Nurbs right?

btw how do you "unwrap" a mesh?

working for something like this, polymodelling with meshtools is a must!
With max 3 you will be really in trouble doing this ;)

not really seeing a problem with the texture tiling. I think it's great so far. looks like she shaves that thing twice a day, too.

I suppose this would be as good a place as any to ask this...
Why would you take the time to model a beautiful naked woman, just to put clothes on it? It seems like a supreme waste of time.
Granted in this case she is wearing a bikini, so skin will show, but nipple? C'mon call a spade a spade. And just admit you like naked ladies and drop the pretence of saying I will add clothes later.
I don't think I have EVER seen a finished clothed model of some one's naked chick. Woops, I take that back. Sthalburg (sp) seems to do this. So may be there is a precedence. I still think it's silly.
BTW She's hot. And it is a really good-looking piece of mesh and the textures are getting there. I didn't want you to think I don't respect your talent. I ask these questions out of genuine curiosity.

Man, haven't seen this one myself yet. Great model! I know that her face is really nice too so you've got nothing to be ashamed of by posting it here :)
By the way, it's possible to model this in max3 too with a smoothing script (can't remember what it was called but it did a quasi subdiv) but it won't be as nice as doing it in r4. I wouldn't touch Nurbs in Max with a 10ft pole.

Like Wiro said, You wouldn't want to use nurbs in max for something like characters.
About unwrapping a mesh there is a tread about it:

KOryH: Why modelling a whole character before putting cloths on it ? Well first it is a good modelling study and you also have a finished character which you can reuse later without having to worry about the ik and skinning as you can create new clothes seperatly from the character.
And you have - among other things - more possibilities of simulating things like clothes sliding over the body.
Grey: If you want to create a procedural skin you have to mix a lot of different procedurals but as i said on my website it was more of an experiment because painting a skin texture is faster and easier.
Zytrox: Yes the nipples might have need some more work but as they won't be visible afterwards I left them like that.
Wiro: ;) You know that the face has no textures and hair yet.

But still know it's a CG stuff at first sight...
Maybe with just a little bit more effort, then you could make it
as real as human skin...since you've push yourself this far...:p
