RicoD 08-22-2002, 01:35 PM Followed a link by a friend and ended up here ... I was caught by some amazing stuff here ! Don't have much to show on CG stuff, but here's one of my first photoshop thingies. I could really use some advise ! *I know, I know ... I'll be removing that ugly render clouds sometime*

Very tranquil and nicely rendered, and as I always say .....BUT
it appears rather out of focus and not enough contrast difference between the foreground and the background.

The placement of her eyes looks a little off. Also, it would be nice to see what she's sitting on. Good job, though!:airguitar

Much better than my first posts... I love the character design, but it is too lighht for a person like me... i guess it boils down to the issue of contrast.. its like a fight between colors or something... greater contrast produces better work in my opinion ^_^ VERY good work though

The size of the eyes isn't really the problem...it's that you've got the head tilted, but the eyes aren't in the right place to suggest that. Also, the tattoo on her face needs work for the same reasons. I did a paintover to show you what I mean. The left side is how your perspective lines are now and the right is how they should be. Hope this helps:beer:

I don't know if you have tried "Unsharp Mask" but alot of Photoshop dwellers don't know what it is or how to use it, not all, but some:surprised
I did this with Filter/Sharpen/Unsharp Mask
45% amount, Radius: 27.8 pixels,Levels: 3
After that, the contrast is unnaturally cranked up, I then go to
Image/Adjustments/Hue & Saturation, leaving it on MASTER I desaturated it about -19.
Hope thats helpful to you and anyone else
I find "Unsharp Mask" a very valuable tool.
Also afterwards you find that some blends are to sharp or pixelated, go over them again with the blur tool, making sure you stay away from the edges and areas where you want a tight contrast like areas of clothing seams and where the body touches the fabric. I have painting techniques that can seperate these areas easily and sharply, but thats too involved to post here.
