WOW! Very nice final image. I followed your progress in the WIP forum on this, (though I never posted anything there - bad me :shame: ).

This is just beautiful work.

Kinda looks like an amalgam of The Rocketeer and a Episode I droid. Nice work

WOW ! Excellent work.
It seems that there is a problem of antialiasing on the shadow of the left foot but it's too little.

i look a little bit through the process of creating the rocketbot..and now as he's finished i love this little thing of polygones!
i think it's a great design and a cool pose!
i liked the blue version more than this but i think this color is o.k.!
great work!

Wow that's funky :thumbsup:

I remember this from the WIP forum, and my crit at the time was that the eyes were a bit too doe-like and "cutesy", but I *love* the new shape of his head and how you've reworked the eyes accordingly.

Great stuff.

Very nice work, the lighting and texturing are extremely well done. I was wondering if you could tell me how you did the white background and white stage look. I am working on a project and that is the look I am going for.

Thanks,
Great model too,
good job all around :)

Thanx,

@flamedevil
This is no AA problem...it's a GI Sample Error...not worth to be mentioned ;)

@DXtreme
Thanx, Greetz to Berlin :D

@HapZungLam
If I had chosen another angle for the light there would be more reflections.

@suttercane
The setting is quite simple. A 100% white plane + 100% white background + a bright light with the right angle + GI ...that's it.

@Oscar
The reflection on his body are fresnel falloff reflections...like car paint. The joints have a normal reflection behaviour...like a mirror...and would be colored like the background without anything around them.

great look about em... nice color... though now that I look at the wire frame I sort of feel the eye could be textured differently to bring out the sphered look a bit more...

all in all... I want one.... wah..... hehe

I love the whole damn thing, reflections, hull detail and the eyes give the whole thing a cartoonish look. Excellent work, I wouldn't change a thing, seriously. Can't wait to see him animated!

i think he should have a pupil of some sort so we know where he's looking (the wireframe looks like it has more personality because of this) :)

Outf***kingstanding!!!
Beautiful, solid form. Smooth, thick curves and the attention to detail is truly something to be proud of. I'm officially jealous.
You're going places...

Don't be scared to use a different background color. Since they are both bright, contrast between the background and the robot is missing.

Hey, verry nice model, not to much details, how did you do the insets ?

and could you post the concept drawing of that thing, or did you just began modeling it without drawing anything ?

Hello !!

Fantastic Model ! Very good work with the GI too !

The "C" in his hand is texture or modeled too ?

Congratulations !

Thanx for comments guys, I appreaciate it.

1. I gonna animate him...in the near future ;)
2. Does he really look like a SW Bot? I didn't use any refs from StarWars. The initial idea came from this image (http://www.deviantart.com/view/324541)
3. Everything is modeled...no bump maps at all
4. Maybe I messed up the shadow settings and I think I have to alter the light angle as well...just wait for a better render ;)

Very nice
it reminds me a bit of Pascal Blanche yellow bot tho :)

The color is a turn off, but other than that this kicks serious ass.

Very nice modelling.
I actually love the bright colors, glad to see someone getting away from that clichéd rusted metal look. I don´t see any significant resemblance to SW and even if I did would that make it less impressive. Sometimes it´s harder to do an exact copy than to just be plain ol´ original..

Keep it up.. Awaiting the animated thingy. :thumbsup:

I agree that a puple would give him more personality. Other than that - it's perfect. And the wireframe is awesome.

How did you go about the joints? Are they separate pieces? I am curious how to rig something like that and it appears you rigged it for the pose.

I really like this guy :thumbsup: but you know that already.

I think someone mentioned this but its impossible to tell which way he's looking. I'm not in favor of adding a pupil - that big black eye is cool as is. Maybe have it move inside the white space around it to indicate which way he's looking (sorta have the entire black ball serve as a pupil). I hope that made sense :)
