View Full Version : Frankengeometry turns to munchkin!

Inspired by A.Alvarez 3D sketches, I sat out Sunday to do some sketching of my own. Not having a whole lot of time to sculpt, and having many crashes due to zspheres, I came up with the Frankengeometry. Basically I canibalized some old models, and the head from my sith model, and I stuck them all together and made the model you'll see in the following illustration.

I didn't really have a goal in mind when I did this, but sure enough 4 hours later I had me this little creature here. What fun it was to make too! So as not to waste this guy by sitting on my HD, I figured I'd give all of you the model to play with, or just to see what all I did. I believe it's got four levels of subdivision, and maxes out at around 250,000 polys, so there is a lot more than can be added to it.

Very cool model indeed. I like your style.

It is very nice of you to let people download the tool.

One thing that I always suggest when rendering images to post, is to turn off the quick 3d mode and to do a bit of smoothing using the display properties before rendering.
I know you know about this, just a thought about how to (slightly) impove the image itself...

Thanks for the compliments meats!

I'm a big fan of your work, and I'm really looking forward to your DVD's. I wish I was in LA because I definitely would love to chat with you in person and watch you work. Maybe one day when I get my portfolio done and I'll head out that way. I wish I had more time to spend with 3D stuff, because I love it!

As far as the renders go, yeah I know. It's not meant for an art gallery or anything. The only problem I have with using the smooth function is it looses details in the mesh, although I haven't really got much details to show with this model... HAHA! Once I get to the point to where I'm satisfied with my work, I'll be doing my renders for my demo reel in Maya. It's just going to take me awhile to get to that point.

One thing that I always suggest when rendering images to post, is to turn off the quick 3d mode when the poly counts are high the quick 3D Edit isn't visible to the naked eye
most sub divides are greater then 3 times and when it gets pass that point
you cant tell if quick edit is on or off when rendering..

thanks for the download. i love that zbrush users freely share their models like this.
