View Full Version : texture mapping problem

hello,
I'm having a bit of a problem with a model I've built, I've created several uv maps so that I can use high resolution textures, on a low proxy mesh intended for subdiv conversion.
When however I convert the object to subdiv, it only transfers a single uv map (whichever I have visable in the uvtexture editor at the time of conversion).
I would love to be able to transfer the uv maps to the subdiv object as I've also tried simply smoothing the model, or using a smooth proxy node, they both transfer all of the texture maps, although they create seams/and or breaks in the texture that the subdiv surface does not (not to mention the speed benifits of the subdiv over either of these options).
I've also tried simply breaking up the surface into smaller parts, and as I'm sure that you are aware, that siimply does not smooth across the the edges where the mesh is not contigious(or simply a single object), thus defeating the object of smoothing a mesh.
If someone out there know of a way to accomplish this, (I've noticed a couple of similar posts that have gone unanswered), I would be most obliged for any help that you could offer.
Oh, and if anyone knows of a way to use a shading switch with uv sets, that would also be extremely helpfull.

Thanks,
John
