Try to add some scratches in the sharp side of the crayons. They look too flat now... and, in my opinion, it's the only weak side of you image.

Well done!:)

Looks real. Love the crayon box. Looks well worn.

Hi.

Great stuff, looks awesome, V nice attention to detail. Just one thing....looking at the wear and tear on the box, and the fact that the pencils have dings and scratches (implying quite a lot of use) I noticed that they're all sharp and appear to be of similar length......something I have never managed when using a box of crayons :)

Perhaps blunt some of them slightly, and possibly have some of them sharpened to different lengths, because some colours would be used more often I'd imagine?

It's really nice to see you here Richard. Your web site has been a great source of inspiration for me for quite some time, I'm glad you're in to share some of your work with us.

And killer crayons, too.

Thanks for all your helpful (and generous) comments, guys. I think what Nightwing and Anton said about all the pencil tips being too sharp is very true, and I think it would help the image if they were a bit duller, and varied from pencil to pencil. I'll look into it and see how I can change that...

nice work!
When a guy I work with looked at my screen, he actually said "wow, that camera takes nice pictures..."
only nitpick I have (and this is a miniscule one) is that while your box says it holds a dozen, there's only room for ten (two rows of five) :D
ah well, looks nice!

...topix? I almost got a summer job there! If only I used xsi...

Hey...so cool...

Can we see a wireframe of your scene ?!?

(would like to know how many poly in one pencil ::?) :bounce:

Looks quite good. other thoughts have been brought up. i don't think anything has been brought up about the edge of the flap on the box. it looks a little too perfect compared to the rest of the box. maybe add some creases along the flap and wear down those edges a little bit.

this just might be me, but that's the one thing i see off when i look at the images.

Here's the wireframe, as requested. As you can see, it's pretty simple and VERY low poly count. Then again, pencil crayons are pretty simple objects.

Thanks, iMag. I will also look into the edges of the box. They do look a bit too perfect.

I'm in many sense a beginner but here's my $0.02, whatever it's worth:

I agree about the edge sharpness, make them a little duller. Like real pencils.

The reflection of the end of the pencil that has been sharpened is too high, looks almost like the wood was waxed. Decrease the reflection and add some bumpmaps and dirt.

Apart from that it's simply awesome. Excellent work.

I would just like to say that this is freaken awesome....and one day i would be proud if i could pull of such things....and that is why i feel a little lame that i am going to C&C it.....

First i woulld say that i agree with everyone about the pencile tips bing to sharp and identicle....

the one thing that i noticed right away was that you had even some colour smudges on the wood tips from use.. I thought that was great attention to detail... but then i noticed that this was used on quite a few of the penciles... it was the same textue reused.....I have attached a picture with the areas circled in red...yellow and blue to show the matching tips of the penciles...

again though i think that this work is amazing... and the only reason anyone here realy looked hard enough to pic out these nitpicks is because we knew it was 3d...i doubt anyone else would question it....
