WOW! There is some killer work on CG Talk.

Here is my contribution. These are somewhat old now, but I thought I'd post them anyways since they turned out well. :)

Wow that looks really nice. Obviously this is a new logitech mouse, just out of the box, no dirt on it or anything. Geometry looks perfect, as it probably is for all intensive purposes. You should keep going, do a keyboard and monitor. Given an environment and good lighting that mouse could be part of a really nice photorealistic still image. Keep up the good work!

looks very real!
i kinda like that perfect clean look, but u could try to make it more used for an even more photorealistic feeling;u could for example make it dirty between the buttons and add some fingerprints and little scratches on its surface.
ah yes and i really love that shining through effect!! :buttrock:

Hey that's my mouse! Exact same mouse. I like it, accept I have a few critques. The cool thing about this mouse is the red light. When you move the mouse it lights up, you captured this in the side image there where you can see the little circuit.

But if you look at the mouse, the red light actually comes through the white plastic, giving in kind of a translucent feal to it.

Also the light actually reflects off of the ground plane (ie: desk, or mouse pad).

Just a little thing I guess, but I think it would make it look ten times better.

Cheers,

another post?

wow, nice mouse.

on the 3rd render, the side shot, i can see some internal components of the mouse. Did you model the wire's, etc... and place them inside the mouse,....or is that a photoshop touch-up??

looks really cool, very new looking (crisp?), .........not like this mouse over here that i'm using right now, .....the seam dividing the lower part of the mouse from the upper portion is all full of dirt and crud becasue some people don't know how to wash their hands :annoyed:

nice work!!

Thanks for your comments and compliments, everyone.

I agree those edges need to be filleted and I really like the suggestion of more bounced red light on the floor. I'm going to work on those changes when I have some time.

Tom (wasted weasel..heh heh), no those insides are built in 3D, inside the mouse which is why I get that nice diffused effect depending on what angle you look at it. But I did use Photoshop for many other post-processing effects.

Man, the talent on CGTalk is just amazing. I'm glad to be taking a part in it.
