What are the training videos and Dvds that you think
should be branded essential?

In what area of Lightwave?
What is their level of complexity?

Looking forward to your lists .

Hi

I would have no hesitation in recommending Kurv Studios DVDs for Lightwave training. So far i have purchases two DVDs and they are unbelievable. I had never made anything at all before these training DVDs. After finishing both DVDs i had made a super Chevy SSR.

They also have a Forum to help you if you get stuck, just leave a message and the artist how made the DVDs will get back to you. Jump over and have a look

www.kurvstudios.com

Hope this helps

I also would recommend videos from Dan Ablan's 3D Garage and the ones from Spline God Larry Schultz, even though I haven´t bought anyone yet, I did look at their free ones and they are excellent, imagine the ones they sell...

I also extremely highly recommend KurvStudio videos. There is the currently well known and talked about car series which is taking both newbies and seasoned pro's from start to finish on modeling a Chev SSR. There have been several people who have posted there progress and results from this series and all of them I have seen so far are extremely well done.

Some of Larrys great videos are now featured through KurvStudios. There are new ones being produced in a huge range of topics from BodyPaint to Saslite and full Sas, Photoshop, LW dynamics and many, many more.

The videos are in and of themselves very high in both audio and video quality. All of the files used in the tutorials are included on the CD’s just as you would hope and expect. Plus the CD’s are packed with extras included tons of free tutorials and trial packages.

One thing I truly enjoy about some of these tutorials is the fact that they are unscripted to a large degree. So what you ask? Well it shows that even top line artists run into problems the rest of us run into all the time. We then turn to CGTalk, SpinQuad, NT and/or other boards for help. But in the tutorials you see the problem develop, an explanation of what and why it happened and then methods to investigate and finally over come these problems. Some of these incidences are very informative and exciting to watch.

To top it off Kurv has provided us a great support forum for anybody and everybody. It does not matter if you have purchased the tutorials or not there are tons of things to be shared and learned at the new forums. True it does not have the million plus posts but it is a young site and board which is going to grow rapidly in the coming weeks and months. If nothing else I encourage you to check them out.

I know there are other great videos and tutorials out there and I have more then a few of them. The advantage to KurvStudios is that they will be catering to all facets of CG for anybody from newbie to professional. What more could one ask for.

The Kurv SSR tutorial is one of the best I have seen. I have wasted a lot of money on other training videos that either leave out a lot of the essential steps or do not clearly explain each step and leaves you to guess what the instructor is doing. These videos go through and show each step and explain why you are doing it, (that is very helpful).
I have seen a lot of people on several forums asking about splines in Lightwave, and even very experienced modelers who have not used splines would be confused by splines and spline patching. This set of dvds will clear up and questions you may have about splines and allow you to quickly build this vehicle.
I highly recommend these dvds, and I hope they make more!

I've never seen the KurvStudio videos, but they sound quite nice :)

I got alot out of the character modeling/animation series from Desktop Images. Starts with learning great techniques and tools for modeling, and teaching you a bunch of good habbits - a good workflow. Later you rig and animate the model, and is stille given good advices on animation, timing and so on.

So, if you're into character animation; check it out ;)

I got alot out of the character modeling/animation series from Desktop Images. Starts with learning great techniques and tools for modeling, and teaching you a bunch of good habbits - a good workflow. Thats what the car modeling tut does as well and it does a great job at it! Some of the other tutorials are the same way if not better. They teach you the basics and then move you on into cool projects.
Other videos are product walk through videos. Think of them as visual manuals only better. Just think of getting a uber sweet new app that you have been dieing for and then seeing theres this ultra thick manual to wade through. A week later you are frustrated and still trying to figure it all out. Not anymore! With some of the product videos you will be able to sit down and a couple hours later you will fill like a pro using the software. In my book this is the way all companies should handle teaching materails for their products and thanks to Wes its now all just around the Kurv!

Digiwonk's rigging series is very helpful. it takes from the very basic of creating skelegons to setting up reverse foot control, sliders, etc

very good stuff, stable and with just a slight modification of his rig, i have been able to make my character flips and do some pretty nifty animation (at least for beginners like me) :)

and best of all, it's free :bounce:

24 videos if i'm not mistaken in total of about 5 hrs, u can't miss these ones!
the videos are hosted in 3d-palace.com
thanks digiwonk :)
