hi
i export a model from poser 4 to maya,i found when i used the merge vertics in maya,the model was wrong.
i dont know why,help me please.

You would have to be more specific than that. In what way was the model wrong? Did you want a puppy and ended up with a dragonfly or what?:shrug:

If I'm not completly wrong, you can select to export the mesh as a 3ds object. You can download a 3ds importer for maya from aliaswavefront, then you shouldn't need to merge vertices.

It just seems like a normal problem, go to Edit Polygons -> Normals -> Set to Face , to get blocky result, or Soften/Harden to get smooth result.

It looks to me like you have some faces with normals facing inward. put your camera inside the model, and check to see if those faces become visible?
If this is the case, You could try the 'conform' tool in the 'edit polygons/normals' menu? this may reset the faces so they all either face in or out. If they all face inward, simply use the 'editpolygons/normals/reverse' to get them to face outward again.

after this, use the 'editpolygons/normals/softenhardern' to amend the surface.
