Damn! I don't normally go in for sci-fi stuff, but that's really nice. What did you use for the background?

The one constructive comment I have is that the front of the pod-like modules looks too flat. Maybe you could add some bump or geometry to them, or at leat to the ones in front.

I agree with Adam, it shouldn't take too much to extrude some of the detail you have on the textures to match with geometries... that would make it that much more convincing.

Wow that’s one nice model you have their, but I don’t think the background does it justice. Maybe get a more convincing sky texture and add some planets to it. I know there are some planet tutorials at th maxon site, they are very simple to make yet have a high enough quality to fit with your amazing ship.

very nice job here, The space doesn't bother me too much, what I noticed, and is my main issue is the lighting, in space evrything is hard lighting meaning hard shadows, but hard shadows suck so use a soft shadow of say 1000x1000 (assuming the current is 250x250) or something like that, it just seems too soft.

speaking of shadows... is the maximum size for a C4D shadow map the standard 4096?

you can go as high as you want, but a spotlight with a 4096x4096 shadow will take up 134 someodd megs of ram approximately, hope your objects and such are damn simple.

you should try sharpening your bumbp map, try circle sampling rather than mip. otherwise pretty good render, earth could use a little more atmosphere.

do you have plastic selected for specular?

You may want to change that to metal...

And I agree with what kai said, BTW...

otherwise she's looking amazing :D

hey what is the size (radius) of ur planet? is the ship a composet?

the spaceship and that one are planned computed separately and were joined then later because the memory did not suffice for me for cinema4d than I computed it together

It is really hard to tell that they were joined later, good job :)

I was actually playing with a Star Trek mesh over the weekend trying to figure out decal mapping to the best effect...

If I could remember where I got the model from I'd tell you guys, because the textures come in all screwy (it's a LWS file with many parts).

Would be a good excersize in setting textures...
