View Full Version : Triangle modelling
I see some models done in triangles instead of polys, I see this mainly for game characters and just want to know why? Is it just personal preference, or is their some advantage to modeling this way?

3D hardware renders all objects as triangles anyway, so even if a model was all quads, they would be converted to tris at the time of rendering. if the character modeller does this conversion as part of the modelling process, they should be able to find ways to reduce the polygon count better by using triangles directly.

Normally ppl model in quads then conert to tris..helps the game render out..meaning mo processing power is being used to convert the quads into tris..and can be spend on AA etc
