liquid_tension 08-21-2002, 10:22 PM Hi everybody, I have a problem, i created my blendshapes for dog before rigging it, the mouth was open, ofcourse after rgging it and clossing the mouth then if I turn on the blendshape the mouth oppens, someone told me that in 3d Max you can specify only the vertices that affect the Morph, Is there a way to do that in Maya, like to say, only affect the vertices on the eyebrows???
hope someone can help me thanx a lot in advance.

Dont know if I understand you correctly.. but..
duplicate the mesh with the open mouth pose, delete
history on it, add that mesh as a blendshape on a rigged
one, make sure it's always 1 ( lock it ) and that's it.:)
.. and you might want to check the evaluation order
right click>inputs>complete list..
cheers

Mandrake thanx for your Reply but its not what i mean, I asking if its possible to specify just a group of vertices to affect the blend shape and not the whole object, like i said, if i wanted just the vertices of the Eye Brows to affect the blendshape but nothing else.

you could create a shape that would deform the eyebrows..
maybe a sphere that was shaped in to the eyebrows, the ceate blendshaped for the sphere and then use it as a Sculpt Deformer to move the eyebrow on your dog model... kinda like using the sphere as a muscle of sorts :)

You can remove unwanted vertices from blend shape set via relationship editor. However, the targets should not be
deleted prior to removing.

Just open the relationship editor, and go to "deformer set
editing", click on blend shape set, select the mouth vertices
(or any) on the object and press the "minus" sign in
the relationship editor to remove them from the set.
It works only if you haven't deleted input shapes from
which you've made blend shape set ( i think ) hope this helps..
