motionbuilder enhanced my workflow in animation a lot. before mb i was animating in maya. at the moment im working in a company using 3dsmax. the animation tools in max are not much more then basic, so it would be a good choice to buy mb, when you think that your animation skills are handicapped in max and/or when you will handle mocap-data.
the data transfer between motionbuilder and the others major 3d applications is perfect because of the fbx-format.
just take a look at kaydara.com and find out more, because im not sure wht you need exactly ;)

best
marco.
