View Full Version : Animated NURBS Extrude Loop

I've had issues with animating NURBS extrusions in which the extruded shape pivots around on the spline. Apparently this is due to extreme changes in the path direction and not enough verticies. I've had some success in adding more verticies to the path but results have been inconsisten at times.

Now, I am extruding along a closed shape (think figure 8) and the issue occurs twice in the animation. Once around 50% of the way through and in the final stage when the beginning and end connect. Any ideas? Does it need to be an open path with the two end points right on top of each other but not connected? Just before the final frame, the extrusion seems to be off by about 90 degrees.

Any insight into this whole process would be helpful. Even with the open path, I feel like I'm taking wild guesses everytime I rebuild the path. I don't understand why the extrusion moves around and wuld like to understand the 'why's' of the process a bit more.

Thanks,
Adam

What attributes are you animating?
Could you post some screenshots?
