Side Effects Software is pleased to announce a gathering of digital artists in Toronto on November 4, 2004. This meeting will feature guest appearances from c.o.r.e. Feature Animation and Sony Pictures Imageworks and an introduction to the newest features in Houdini 7. Stan Szymanski, Senior Vice President, Digital Production and Vincent Serritella, Senior Technical Director will speak for Sony Pictures Imageworks, the award-winning visual effects and character animation company that created the special effects for Spider-Man 2, directed by Sam Raimi.

Imageworks will present an in-depth look into the making of Spider-Man 2 by illustrating how the studio used Houdini in their CG pipeline. Some of the visual effects to be highlighted include: the debris wrangling and the creation of the fusion ball.

Bob Munroe, President of c.o.r.e. will speak on the use of Houdini in their current CG film project, as well as the successful partnership between c.o.r.e. and Side Effects.

Side Effects Software will also present key new features in Houdini 7 such as advanced character rigging, the takes manager, flipbook blocking and more. Side Effects will also provide a peek into future product development plans.

The Houdini Meeting is open to 3D artists of all levels and the media. The event will take place on Thursday, November 4, 2004 at the Arcadian Court, 401 Bay Street Simpson Tower, 8th floor, Toronto, Ontario (Queen and Bay).

Registration begins at 6:30 pm for the 7:30 pm presentation, followed by a reception.

I imagine this will be somewhat of a repeat of the Sony and SESI presentation at Siggraph? If not, I'll feel similar to you guys...ah, DOPS :love:Can't wait till I see their fluid implementation.
