Does anyone know anything about US companies hiring people from overseas? Visa's etc? I'm just testing the waters here.

Thanks,

sas

Good question, I'm wondering about that too.

Some employers state in advance that they only hire local (US) people, because it's too much hassle for them to arrange VISA's.
If you talented enough they are probably willing to do the extra work.

Does anybody has more information on that? Or personal experiences?

It's not about it being a hassle - it's about the expense and the unlikely hood of getting an H1-B ( a work visa ). In order to get someone and h1-B, they need to have either a college degree in that field or 3 years professional experience per year to earn a compensatory degree ( ie 12 years experience for an artist ). In addition, the company needs to demonstrate that they were unable to find a qualified us citizen to fill that position. Add in the expense of lawyers and such, and it suddenly becomes very unattractive.

Also, political ramifications come into it as well. While it's relatively easy to hire someone from canada, mexico or western europe, it begins to become difficult with easturn europe and russia, and is near impossible for arab countries, south america and south asia and china. The exception there is Japan, which is relatively simple.
