Hi,

I am looking for a bevel / chamfer modifier for max 4.x / 5.

Idealy it would be good if it could allow you select the vertices / edges you want beveled.

Cheers

You can do that by going into the subobject mode of your mesh that you are working on. Just make sure your mesh is an editable mesh, poly and then goto and subobject and select the edges you want to chamfer and scroll the bar down and you will see a chamfer spinner there

so, if you really want this as modifier, just put a new edit mesh in your stack just for these manipulations.

that is how i normaly work. i use the subobject chamfer. problem is that its not easy to tweak once u comit to chamfer and when u want to change the shape it ends up deforming te chamfer. i feel that a separate midifier would make life so much more easier. you coudl change the size of the chamfer at any stage :)

adding an edit mesh on top would mean that you lose the nice poly tools and also when you go back in the stack and make some chages it would affect the result of the edit mesh and you would have to discard it and create a new one.....

:( someone must be able to create a plugin.... that would be nice.
