I've downloaded the diffraction shader plugin from alias' site and I want to create the circular refraction that you get across a cd. The sites documentation seems to not bother telling you how to go about creating it but then rubs your nose in it by letting you download a cracking movie of aforementioned cd effect! arrgh!
-so my question is, can anyone write a simple tutorial or offer any advice on getting it to work convincingly?
cheers

anthonymcgrath,

I ran into the same problem a couple of months ago, and boy I totally agree with your "rubbing your nose in it" comment. Oh well. Shortly after my project I was combining through pixho.com (a super groovy site) and found a nice ready to use CD. So, go to www.pixho.com and in the ready to use section you'll find it.

Hope it helps,
ds

cool. thanx for that. I'll have a peruse over the file.

And talking of rubbing noses in it, emmanuel is another one!!! I mean, the guy creates that stunning subsurface illumination shader then shows us how to use it which is fine. but then he sticks up a gallery of pics in the same set of instructions of spinning hands, tentacly things, and glasslike teddybears which all of us have fallen over ourselves to try and recreate but have probably come nowhere near as close as the results he's created with it! cmon Emmanuel, put some tutorials up on how you created that, or possibly even a scene file? I for one would love to see how it was done.

nice one.
