View Full Version : rigid body and model. Urgent !!
authentic 10-28-2004, 10:12 AM We've set up a rigid body with many objects, gravity and ground. After some works we had the result serached. As it has to be use in production we made a model of the differnet objects with their rigid properties. And here, big big problem.
When you import thre model the rsimulation is completely broken. The different object do very strange things. Moreover, we set a key at the 1st position of the object and the don't wnt to go back to their position (except if you mute the simulation) even if you set the key once the model imported. There seems to be no way to resolve this problem with models. Indeed it seems to work when you merge the scene. Incredible !!!
Does somebody solve this bug ????

If you are happy with your simulation, you really should plot the animation in order to work with keys and curves rather than still relying on simulation. It will be easier and faster to use the scene elsewhere.

seb4d. I'm happy but I still want to have control on it. depending on the point of view or of the environnment there might be changes.
Anyway I already tried to plot some, for my personnal improvement, and it doesn't work with these rigid bodies... If you can tell me more about this process, it will not solve my problem but it will be cool anyway !!

Plotting rigid body simulations is really easy.
Select the mesh you want to plot, go to animation toolbar and choose Tools/Plot/All Transforms.
Leave the options by default.
Then don't forget to remove the rigid boy to the mesh : Simulate toolbar, Modify/Rigid Body/Remove Rigid Body.
Now for your model problem, have you tried to do the opposite ? Make your other scene a model and load it into your rigid body simulation scene ?
I don't really know why your simulation brakes appart, but maybe it is a scene scale problem ?

thanks for the plot explanation. I'm gonna try.
For my 1st problem, i'm sure it's not a problem of scene. I have made something to verify : i took my "good" scene, take my rigid bodies, make them as a model (including gravity), save this model (At this time i don't have leave my original scene), then i delete the rigid bodies, and last import the model just saved. I have never leave my scene and it doesn't work !

humm... ok I don't really know why this happens to you.
I've made a quick test, created a model of a rigidbody simulation, exported it and then imported it again. And it works.
Try to import this model and tell me if it works :

It works no problem. The problem is that my rigid bodies are pretty much complicated. In fact it is a mesh which is break in mulitple ones and their "friction" make them explode and then gravity, deflector....
Moreover I can't give you the file cause it's part of my company and I can't show anything...

Ok, all the tests I made work perfectly so I don't really know what to tell you to help you.
It seems to work with merge scene as you said, at least it would be a solution, but it's maybe not what you want...
Let me know if you find a solution ! Good luck !
