1st pass on a concept and composition. some troops with jetpacks are dropping down from ships above and the alien tanks below are firing darkmatter cannons at them... not sure about framing, need to fix perspective, i want to show more of the alien tank thingys. its hard to cram all the battle stuff in . the designs are loose and generic for now, i'll be sumbiting some concepts for the aliens and guys in mechsuits and dropships and probably 3 more composition sketches too, i hope! : P after giving the guy a sword it looks very warhammer40k, but for some reason i like him having a sword, its got more heart than just a gun..

Wow - that's a powerful image -I like it a LOT!

This concept has a lot of potential, it is most definately epic, and very interesting to the eye.

I look forward to seeing more refined images.

I think those troops are too much warhammer 40k - like... But I like the alien-tank-things :D

They look a lot like the space marines from star craft

here's another conept ive been thinking about. a quick and dirty sketch of a city that manufactures stars. the environment will be pretty much monochromatic and smoggy. There are some whacky perspective problems, but thats supposed to be a star generator ship in the foreground and part of a star. In case some of you are wondering, the generators ships dont burn up because the stars are enclosed in a stasis field... or something like that : ) theres going to be little ships flying in between the other ships as well, but basically the generator ships will be all the same design, hopefully very industrial looking.. I'll probably do alot of versions of this until i nail the perspective. As always comments, feedback, tips on perspective, and suggestions on framing this up are more than welcome!

gorgeous colors in the second concept! try add in cogs and wheels for the full industrial look. Industrial is totally cool if done for scifi (well at least, I think so lol)! Certainly one thread I'm subscribing to :D keep the updates coming

KICK ASS....

the new concept is SO much better than the first. It's really original, got a great colour scheme, and a very very epic feel to it!

It'd be interesting to see in the image what they do with the stars once manufactured... do some kind of machines collect them and transport them into space?? That'd be something cool to add into the background, just an added detail which aids the feel of the whole thing IMHO.

Anyway, totally sweet. I'm v.jealous of your concept.

Whoa ! manufacturing stars! Now that`s a business venture with alot of
possibilities. Guess I should go and patent the idea so that my grand-grand
children can make a fortune of it in the future. A bit silly though like that "buy land on
jupiter, now!" scam :) or maybe gas on jupiter

thanks for the comments guys:thumbsup: yes this ones a bit more original than my previous warhammer 40kish one : P i am going to need to do a bunch of sketches to dial in the composition and some concepts of the ships and how the stars are anchored to them, as well as designs for the tiny ships that are commuting between them. hopefully i'll have time this week to update this thread!! i really want the metal on the ship to be very thick, with scafolding on it like those huge construction cranes with the steel lattice work, or like oil rigs.. but yes there must be giant cogs, cables and gears involved in there, also huge huge thrusters to keep the ships stabilized :)

Wow, I really like the colors you're starting off with in that second piece of concept art. I like the scale of it, too, as it's much more epic. But I did like the WarHammer guy from the first one. The rules did call for heroes, and there's almost nothing more heroic than someone - anyone! - from the warhammer universe. Maybe one or some of them can be in the foreground of your new piece, to add the human element and a sense of scale... Or not, just a suggestion! Either way good luck with it!
