I'm just trying to duplicate the effect acheived in Max when you adjust the (Max) light's contrast slider up to one hundred.

Basically every point on the object that is lit becomes fully lit, as if the light were shining directly on it.

This effect also causes a sharp delineation between light and shadow.

I've played around with most of the toon shaders available here, but they don't quite acheive the same effect. Besides I am almost certain there is a way to adjust a light's contrast, I'd like to find out how.

that is a feature i already asked alias to put in before 3.0.. no way :)

a way to fake it is to put a negative light in that eliminates some of the main light at the rim.. but a poor workaround i have to admit.

and you cound use the surfaceLuminance node and some non-linear ramps to adjust the look as well..
