Title: Environment: Winter Village
Name: Daniel Kvasznicza, I-netgrafx
Country: Austria
Software: Painter, Photoshop
Hi there!
Maybe I'm a bit early with that topic, but I think it's a good time to start with winter landscapes.
Based on the concept "Snowscape" (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=179133), I started with some photos of exteriors I found on the net.
Finally I painted everything together and turned it into a small moody village at dusk.
The rationality stopped me in painting some more timeconsuming details. I could have spent ages in painting all that stuff.
The original is at 4k resolution.
Surely too much space for small brushes ...

amazing. but i wish you can put more orange to the left side of the light sorce. to make a huge contrast to the rest of your blueish seen will make it more amaze.
just a little suggestion.

Hello!
A wonderful painting, its really peaceful and the using of this blue gives the true feeling of a morning in winter...The compositing is very interesting - light is amazing!- and somehow, I would not be surprised to see characters moving in this "matte painting" ;)!
MarieMJS.
PS: as I didnt want to bother everyone with this, Im new(in the posting thing, but been in "lurking mode" for some times ;)) so hello everyone!!!

Thanks, quiet a bit!

Hmmh, .. You wouldn't beleave it, but I even desaturated this area, because it distracted the focus ... Maybe, I'll have a second look at it.
:rolleyes:
@MarieMJS:

I think its to stylized and to hyperrealistic to consider it as a mattepainting. It's intended to be some kind of postcard over christmas and new year, therefore I'm quiet early with that stuff.
I thought about characters, but . . . who wants to see annoying kids, hear them crying, eat some of their snow balls, stumble over their sleighs, . . . :argh: *peace*!
@AHMED-3D:
That's nice! Thanks!
@Leonard:
Thanks Leonard!
I have not overlooked your invitation,
I'll scratch my artworks together for ya! :beer:
Kind regards,

this is super! my only criticicism (and it's really a matter of taste as much as anything else) - the edge of mountain is really sharp against the sky - looks a little unnatural to me, liek a paper cutout. Could soften of darken in parts... otherwise, great image and style... :)
i wanna be there! Damn, i need a vacation in austria

Lovely new desktop you have delivered. Very moody. Feels like warm chilly winter. Yes, odd but..soft, cold, warm...somehow just...cozy.

Heh, reminds me of these little 'wintery town' christmas miniatures we have. My mom would get a new building each year for a while. They looked just like those.

Great stuff, although I have to agree with the previous comment about the mountain. I'd also suggest adding a small layer of mist to the mountain to give it a sense of depth and make it feel like it was farther away than it actually looks. Otherwise, this is excellent and is gonna be my new wallpaper :)

I think that your works are in a league of their own, and this is no exception.
I especially love the snow in the forground - to be able to paint lighting with that sort of realism is amazing.
Have to agree though, some snow bein blown around and off the mountain would look fantastic.
Thanks for the new desktop ;)

I really like this one! I assume that it's a continuation or different version of another piece that you posted a few weeks back.

the sky dont look in harmony with the rest of your compo, the sky is too photographic , the houses are less photographic. its strange, lets say not well fitted.

I think it is a beautiful image. I love it.

There's a certain 'old school' aspect to this piece, with a decent amount of technical application.
My only criticism is that most of the houses seem to be facing in the same direction... I feel anal for saying this, but it was the only thing I found I dis-liked particularly in this image.
The colours although ethereal, compliment the 'fantastical' quality of your work.
Good stuff.

Brrrrrr. Very nice and very appropriate for the holidays. It looks very inviting to the traveller who has spent all day trudging through the snow.
