View Full Version : Best way to unwrap a quadruped

I'm just wondering what is the best way to unwarp a quadruped?
off the top of my head, I would do it like this:
-do a spherical or cylindrical projection for the head and neck
-do a cylindrical map for each of the legs
-do 1 cylindrical projection for the main body
-do one more cylindrical projection for the tail, if there is one.
Be sure the seams of all of these projections are facing down or in, so that no one can see them. This should leave you with 7 different uv meshes. Then after you have done all of the projections you can begin the process of sewing the different meshes together matching shared edges. Hope that helps and gives you a head start on tackling it.
