"The week of October 11th has brought great news for Nintendo. Their DS handheld console has taken the third spot in Japan’s Top 10 Consoles list, beat only by the orginal Playstation 2 and Nintendo’s own Game Boy Advance SP. Not too shabby considering the thing isn’t due out for another month in Japan. "

Hey Roberto, your subject line is incorrect. Re-read the quote you posted.

It is in someway, if you read the article it says that it is outselling the new version of the ps2, maybe thats what they ment,

Still, it's an impressive landmark. I'll certainly be preordering if the system does well over the next month in terms of game reviews.

That is impressive news, but this should probably be posted in General Discussions, as we aren't talking about the actual games, or the workings of the unit, but the sales figures.

Look at the source of the link you gave...
It is originally from gamespot, and it says:
The ranks are:

1. GBASP 35,280
2. PS2 22,470
3. Nintendo DS
4. PS2 Redesign
5. GC 4,368
6. GBA 633
7. Xbox 173

but than again, this is just Japan, and they don’t like the XBOX! @#*#$
What is wrong with them? Beats the hell out of me...
I think that when the PSP hits preorder, it will out sell...
I used to be a big Nintendo fan, but i am getting tired of all of there "sequels" which are just remakes of original games, and we all know that we can only play a game so many times!

Somehow I'm scared the PSP will be the megadoomer from Invader Zim, the power to wage war with the universe!....

...if you recharge every few steps.

I've yet to see a credible report on the PSP's battery life that said it was good. I'm not sure I'll be buying either for a while. My SP gets little enough love as is. However on the console and PC front, this is gonna be one heck of a holiday game playing season:thumbsup:

There's no flame war here danydrunk. :D Just the neverending cycle of system supporters in friendly banter over products that aren't even on the market yet.

i am not liking what i see with the DS. even if i already didn't have a Gameboy it wouldn't be of interest to me. i would be taking a look at the PSP.yes, this comment doesn't really contribute anything i know. sorry i just really adore the design and playability of the GBSP.

you know what we are all forgetting about is that nintendo itself was looking for a different audience with the ds. I think it will sell to the hardcore market and also to a new market. After that they can always release the next gameboy at the middle of psps cycle and totally crush sonys hope.

what 'new market'?

perhaps the market that doesn't play pg rated games

Man that excuse is soo lame. Here's a couple of quarters for the dryer,... cause you've obviously got your brain washed. I kid, I kid. I just think it's silly. That there's peer presure to play certain rated games in the privacy of our own home. That it's not alwasy what game you play, but what's it rated. Oh well.

I think the DS look fun. I like the fact that it's wireless, and the touch screen seemed to open up to new games. I saw the Nintendo DS presentation recent that showed of some of the mini games they were playing with the pen, looked very fun to me.

This is probably the 1st ever handheld gaming device I'm gonna buy !!!

I used to like Sony products but seem to have lost that edge. PSP looks nice but battery issues is all we seem to hear about, having said that the vaio pocket has damn good battery life, maybe they will solve the problem...
