News taken from maxplugins.de (http://www.maxplugins.de):

Next Limit (http://www.nextlimit.com) have put up a new site for their upcoming renderer Maxwell (http://www.maxwellrender.com). Along with technical details of the renderer, there is a gallery and the chance to pre-order the final version at a reduced rate ($395 instead of $995), allowing use of the alpha and beta versions until release (available in June 2005).

We'll have to be patient, but it sure looks promising!

BUMP! Who's got preorders in and will be flooding us with test renders? ;) Lastly, anybody heard any details on Finalrender Stage 2?

Hopefully their rendering is better than their fluid simulations...

Personally I don't put much stock in still images these days, insofar as judging how well a renderer works, how flexible it is, etc.

First of all, their fluid simulation is psysically accurate and works very well, second of all, I wouldn't expect to see too much work coming from an alpha release of a renderer that won't be complete for a year.

i was amazed when i first saw their galery...new concept of rendering sounds promising and images are really of very high quality to backup their claims...

...however, i'm being sceptic so far... i didn't see they mention displacements (maybe i've missed it) and i wasn't very impressed by amount of geometry in 'complex geometry' section...

one things is for sure! i will watch this one for updates regulary...

Seems interesting, somewhat. I would have to try it out and would definitely love a demo version of it so i can test it out myself!

Andronikos, let us know about it will you :)

Looks promising. I wonder how it will stack up rendering time wise. Ill keep an eye on this.

People are still dreaming about "Make a nice picture" button... ;)

About maxwell i think that it will be very sloooow, because we can see little "GI noise" in that examples in the gallery (but there should be best ones, no?) and they dont post renderings time...
