i m working on a character wearing a pair of shorts with physique & biped. i try to do a cloth simulation of the shorts for a run animation of the character with reactor cloth. & run into some problems.

i like to find out 1stly, m i doing right to ve the shorts physiqued to the character biped, before applying reactor cloth modifier to do the simulation? or should i just attachedtoRB for the shorts to the character & not physiqued, then let reactor simulate?

right now, i ve the shorts physiqued. for simulation, i tried using the biped legs as Rigid Body. i tried oso putting the character mesh in a DMcollection. i oso tried using cylinders linked to the biped thighs & calfs, as rigid body for simulation. however, reactor simulate without taking into account the leg movements, esp for runs, the legs are moving up down bck front a lot quickly, but the simulation dont seem to take these into accounts. the shorts just flow stationary as if the character is standing still.

wonder if reactor is only capable of doing simple things like table cloth draping over stationary rigid body? what if the rigid body is animated like the running legs?

really appreciate some kind advice on this : ) thanx in advance!

I've only used Reactor cloth briefly to test it out (and it was a huge disappointment so I went back to using the excellent Simcloth), but I am pretty sure you shouldn't be Physique-ing the shorts. Basically you need to set up the legs as collision objects, somehow set the "waist band" to stick to the waist, and then let the cloth simulation do everything else. I can't remember what Reactor's exact terminology for doing any of that, but it shouldn't be difficult to find it in the help file.

thanz alot, Iain !
i ll try that out. i ve use simcloth on another occasion before which is more complicated, without too successful. thus i wan to see if reactor works better : )

looks like not many ve tried using reacotr cloth for actual animation purpose?

thankx again! good day!

Try Physiquing just the "waist band" so that it forms to the waist, while the rest of the shorts are free to fold and flow and whatnot.
