Hey Folks!

I just started to read "The animators Survival Kit" and i think that is an excellent book to learn the principles of the animation. I´m doing several animation tests to understand well the principles and improve my animation work.

This animation are made with Flash but i think that they are valid as well. I need some feedback to improve my skills and the animations.

u can download from here. U know, right click and save as...

Bouncing Ball (http://www.davidmartinez.com/pelota02.mov)

Pendulum animation (http://www.davidmartinez.com/pendulo01.mov)

thanks in advance

First off, you need to have more inbetweens, so it wouldn't pop from one pose to another and you get a fluent motion.

It IS okay as it is right now, but try to add more/longer squash and longer hang time at the top to observe the different effect. And then try to animate a heavy ball bounce. Also, it is a good idea to exagerate and stretch/squash all the way to the extreme, again to see the different feeling you would get.

If you use Flash, there is an option that lets you add ease in/ease out on each frame, try that just to see how it would look, but it's better to do every frame yourself to really learn these principles.

Another thing that you may have not yet seen in the book is, you have to maintain volume, so forinstance, if you squash the ball one unit down, you have to stretch it one unit wide so the ball doesn't lose volume, this would be better seen if you animate a solid colored ball.

hope that helps :)
