Went back to this scene with a diffetent approach on the moon. Just the moon. I'll have to adjust the lighting after this.

That really looks great so far! Plenty of detail potential for the fore, mid and background.

Welcome to the fray! Solid concepts so far, but if i were in your boots (god forbid i wouldnt be, my feet are kinda small) id really consider trying to implement elements of nature in a Space opera scene (such as in your first drawing). itll be something that stands out if you do it well. hope that advice helps!

Cool, I like your designs so far. I'm really interested in seeing more of the explosion type area. Maybe you could push all the action near there. Just a suggestion.

I was considering that myself after the war scene being my first idea, and then going the other direction. I'll see what I can do.

Thanks guys.

not that my word is gospel, but ive not seen much use of nature so far, so it will stand out.

The idea was to portray a not all together signifiacant, but nontheless a final moment in a large scale war. The scenery showing the product of a very destructive dispute that may have gone on for quite some time.

Just getting my barrings on this challenge. I didn't know right away how I was supposed to be submitting. So now I'm catching up on these.

Wanted to incorperate nature into an underlying technological atmosphere. Thinking of a way of maintaing a farm or a nursery in an undesirable environment.

A rough beginning to the painting. Went into this one layer at a time. Starting from the most distant aspects of the scene and coming closer.

More detailed coloring. I thought more about how I wanted to texture the canyon in the foreground and i think it's coming out okay. I am blocked on how I want to tackle the moon and planet, so I'll take a break from this concept.

I got right into painting this one because I just wanted to see what I could do with that tree in the middle. I thought it came out fairly well then just started working around it. Not using multiple layers in this except for the water bowls under the trees. Painting the roots on the bottom layer then painting solid blue bowls on the next layer. I'm experimenting with layer modes and opacity to get something nice.

I like where you are going with this one, but I feel like there isn't a specific light source, which would make it more dramatic. I know you said you would adjust the lighting, so I'll wait to see what you come up with. It looks as though the moon is the light source now?

Besides that, what I'm not getting from this is a sense of scale. By adding something familiar, such as a person or a vehicle that we recognize, it will make the whole scene look much more grand.

You're on the right track and it's looking really good so far. Keep going!
