A quick Google search:

To group objects, use the layers in modeler.

Get Hyperstars. Looks great and is a lot less money than the Maas Digital star generator. I won't be going back to single point polys stars any time soon.
Doesn´t LW8 come with an amazing StarSphere tool? NT even made a video of it :scream:

cant you just slap a image of a starfield behind your render?I tried that, it works, BUT since i wont be doing a 2D render..of just 1 still image, that wont help..!! ill be doing an animation, so when the camera moves, the back has to sync with that..! So i need some kind of a plug-in..? Or has anyone tried..Ozone 2 from e-onsoftware ?? I think thats to do with all kinds of atmospheric stuff..!!
Place your image on a Sphere and use that Sphere as an environment...your camera moves the Stars "move" too

Hyperstars is the best for the money. It rocks!

If you don't want to spend the money on a plug-in but still want some great looking start you might try using HyperVoxels. I did this and got some really close looking results to some of the other plugins out there. To save time on rendering because HV's can take some time I render a really large image and use that as my backdrop on a sphere.
