Very nice piece. I really like the composition you chose, it works well. However, I just wish there was a little more definition in the trees on the right side of the image. I know you did a bit of stylization on the trees, but the entire image looks really sharp until I look in this area. Either way, excellent work.

It's excellent. Is it based on any particular temple? How many layers did you end up using?

Looks great! However, I believe there are a few more things that could enhance the look of your image a lot. I was looking at it and, although I liked it right away, something about it seemed fake to me, it didn't convince me that it could be something real, as I'm assuming your intentions. One simple thing you could try doing is playing with the curves and levels a little more... make the darkers more dark. My reasoning for this is the light source seems to be coming from the back left, illuminating the sides of the mountain, the top of the roof, and most of all the sky/clouds. The sky looks really bright and having it that bright I would expect to see, since our eyes and camera's adjust to different types of light, the front of the house and vegetation, which are not getting direct light from the sun, to be of a darker value. They would then have a little more darker and saturated hue to them because of the ambient light being reflected onto them from the surrounding objects. But if the bright sky is part of the picture my eyes would definitely expect to see more of the image darker. This would make the image a lot more interesting to stare at and more convincing at the same time. Try it out and let me know if it works to your liking.
Simply looking at my LCD screen at a different angle makes the darks darker and it seems to work very nicely, but try it out if you feel like it
Your textures, strokes and details are definitely something to admire, take care

I envy you swede people, you have an incredible beautiful sense in painting.
the sense in place, perspectives and color. you can visualize a perfect world from the simplest elements. this temple painting is number one, of course beside all Linda Bergkvist work :).
Congratulation.

You are truly a master of light !
Brilliant !
If I had to make a criticism, I might add that the water could use a little more work.
I had to zoom up on the image to see that the background was painted.
My first thoughts of the image were that it was a collage of painted foreground, and photographic background elements.
You had me fooled - well done !

Wow! so many posts, I'll thank you all in one go those who gave me such great compliments! thanx!
It is not painted from a reference image, tho i did look on the internet what temples look like, at buddha statues and trees, to get a good feeling of it all!
Shad0W6600: thanx for crits, I'll nudge that part a bit!
Xform: lol! i always thought there was pretty many of us! Nepp bara självlärd...tyvärr :(
Szishren: that's really wierd, cause 2 other guys also wanted to se the rooftiles haha, funny!
eldee: thanx, nah i really have to upgrade my computer, 2.53Ghz p4, 1.5 gb ram, and so on, really painful sometimes, i painted first the iamge at maybe 2000 pixels high, when i wanted to go for more details i scaled it up to 4k, then 6k and finally 8k
Steve Newport: thanx alot for the comments! I guess i was too proud of what i had painted so i didnt hide with the suttlety (dunno how to spell) of realism, i havent tried it yet but i bet your're right, u seem to know your stuff! thanx for the tips i appreschiate it alot!
Windowlicker: iiiik! so do you want a muffin with that ? :P se you out there in some cafe with too many fjortisar drinking latte's too slow making the prices too high cause they never leave hahaha :P
Danydrunk: i dont understand exactly what u mean, might be the lasso tool? i seldom use the pen tool even tho i should. but i often do use the lasso tool.
Admiral Ra: mmmmm...holy muffins....grlgrlgrlgrlgrlgrlrgrl!
Yooo, mr Ward! lunch at 1300 ye? ooh :( i miss that, maybe we could have some lunches in the future, lets pray for that!
Vegan: thanx for the critique, thing is I'm so god damn lazy, could have spent at least 2 more days on this, but I'll remember your thoughts ad try and change it when i have the time, cheers! :)
Thanx all take care!
John
