View Full Version : White background, or any colour for that matter
benjii19 10-23-2004, 11:31 AM Hi, Does anyone know of how to produce the white room effect where your character has a shadown on a white floor with a white background. Ive done this in Maya using the background shader on the camera but cant for the life of me figure it out in lightwave. Ive heard u can use Gaffer but I havent got it. Any Ideas, surely its as simple as it is in Maya. Im rendering some animation test and this way loos quite nice.
Hope u know what i mean

to change the background color: ctrl+f5 brings up a dialog box, choose background tab and you'll see where to change the bg color from its default black. another option is a giant floor plane that curves way up in the back so to speak. hope that's what you're looking for:) .

You could also try using a Matte/Shadow material. Make a ground plane and put a Matte/Shadow material on it. Background color doesn't matter. Render a file using a .tif or a .tga extension with alpha channel enabled. Then, bring it into photoshop, choose Select -> Load Selection and grab the alpha channel and paste onto a white background.
Sounds more complicated than it is. Matte/Shadow is a ver versatile material.
Good Luck.
