View Full Version : noob question.. =/
Whitelion 08-19-2002, 09:27 PM i have only been using 3d max för about 1 month and i have one BIG problem :)
and it is that i have no ide on how to create a surface like this one

its the same with every modell its being "destroyed" because i dont know how to do "cuttouts"
so if anyone knows an easy way of doing it or know a tutorial or something i would be very happy :)

the pipes & half spheres are probably just modelled or primitives. The rest of the detail is done with a free plugin called 'greeble' (theres a clue in the URL :) ) Have a look at maxplugins.de they may have it, I dont know if there is a max 4 version though (although I seem to remember someone posting it on the discreet webforum, you could do a search there... :shrug:

You can also try using boolean operations under the create tab and under compound objects. also try drawing the splines that you want to use (ie a circle) then use the shapemerge tool under compound object as well. I do agree with Chris though that most of that tower was done with the greeble plugin.
