Where can I change settings for this kind of problem:
I take a sphere and I make it child of a cilinder that has been stretched in y axis with scale tool. Then I try to rotate the child (the sphere) and it deforms like trying to compensate for the stretching of the cilinder... it happens with every kind of primitive child of any primitive that has been stretched in any axis.

When you parent something the child is receiving the transform information from the parent object. So basically you are double translating the sphere. Easy solution would be to group the sphere to itself and parent thegroup node to the cylinder. So now the group will get its transforms from the parent cylinder and you will still be able to animate the sphere independently.

Cheers!

thanx xanderFX... I also found another way around this using freeze transformation that will get everything back to zero. That way I dont get any extra herarchy.
However I noticed that Maya 5 didnt do that so I was wondering if anyone knows if this is a setting... where could I find this setting and how to change it?

thanx
