Welcome to the cgtalk sketch group.

We will try to post one of these topics once a day for your enjoyment.

These are the rules:
* Post only your FINAL piece on this thread, based on the topic on the thread.
* 640 x 480 / 480 x 640 OR 800 x 600 /600 x 800
* They can be done on any medium.
* If you wish, you can add a brief text description about your piece.
* Only original compositions. No "tributes" or plagiarizing.
* The topics will be posted every day between 10:00 - 12:00 am US EST.
* The artist also has to post total length of time it took (Thanks Clanger for the idea) and program used.
* Only final pieces can be posted on the thread. They must have been done AFTER the topic has been announced.
* Any piece caught breaking the rules will be taken off the thread.
* The topics will be picked at random from the list on this thread
(The author will be given credit). So guys keep them coming.
*You can add multiple entries, but please dont post WIP (Unless you intend to update them). NEW RULE!
* Ill post ANOTHER thread to quantify and track WHO has participated the most on these threads.

Good luck

-Roberto

Man..where is everybody? It's 4pm in Texas and I'm only the 2nd post???
This probably would be better titled, "Joyride" than "Deathwish" - but its payback time for ilikesoup! :)
PS/Wacom - took WAAAY too long trying to copy his style. About 3 hours or so.

Hi!

I agree Robin! Where is everyone? Well it's Friday night at ten to eleven here and I am seeing off the rest of this bottle of wine, then attempting to do a sketch. Should be fun.

I have to really don't I? I mean, it's my topic after all! (Yay!)

I think everyone's engrossed in the new Space Opera challenge anyway.... I know I am!!

See you in a bit.

TT

Hey guys this is my first post. I joined because i want to improve my drawing skills. I'm a French Canadian so sorry if i do some spelling error. I have been watching those forum for a while and i can say that most of you are very good at drawing and painting. I'm not good, but i want to be. Well here is my first entry.
I used a Pencil, PS, Corel 9 and it took me about 3 hours.

Welcome, Hellshad! It looks like you are off to a good start. There is a nice mood in your piece. There seems to be a little bit of a proportion problem with your (I don't know what he is?...um, Death Angel?...Winged Warrior?). His arms and upper torso seem too large compared to the rest of his body. You have some nice reflections and shadows going on there. Good job, keep it up!

Hi! Another newbie here. :wavey: ._. I was hesitant about posting here for some time since, yah, everyone here is so professional and good! *^* I figured it's about time I join to get more inspired and improve by joining since I felt like I wasn't getting anywhere... *augh*

Roughly one and a half hour, playing with some tools in the mean time. I'm not very satisfied with this, although I still had fun with it.
Edit: Goodness, I was so nervous posting this I forgot to mention about my software! Painter 7 and Wacom Graphire 2. :) Sorry about that!

Vitriolic, I love yours so much! And it's done in such a short time! The colour mood is just beautiful and the texture is so well done.
DigitalSkunkwrx's perspective is awesome... I love The Ton's concept! http://cgtalk.com/images/smilies/grin.gif And everyone else's are just great! Would look forward to more wonderful sketches! :)

After doing it, i don't know if it is really appropriate given that none of the soldiers themselves had a deathwish...but the notion of war in the trenches as a whole gives me the feeling of 'deathwish'...dunno

painter / ps / 20mins + ref.

DigitalSkunkwrx - that makes me dizzy! love the perspective
robinayles - LOL! Good job!!
Vitriolic - fantastic...love the colours and sense of movement.

For all those who think my image is too dark... I know. I agree.

I have impression that my monitor is darker than most of yours, and yes... I know there are tests you can do, and yes.. I have done them, but still, I many times see images here that are too dark to make out too. The problem with my images is that if it is too light it looks bad so I darkened it hoping it would fit your monitors, but I guess I overdid it. If I post the orginal, it would probably be to light for most of you. Anyway... I updated the image with a lighter version. you can check it out now. Tell me if it is still too dark, thanks:

Hello, people! I'm new here. I love EVERYONE's work here, and decided to do my best to keep up! Be kind...just something light-hearted.

Not sure why this image got stuck in my head...but it was clear before I even opened up Photoshop.

http://www.studioshinnyo.com/art/cow_rail.jpg

But Old Betsy can no longer stand by and watch her friends and family be slaughtered by the train. The evil Behemoth of Steel and Coal and cackling, mad laughter from the conductor.

Tonight. She will make a stand.

Even if it is a Deathwish...

Old Betsy knows this is the end of Mad Ernie's reign of terror.

Old Betsy knows this is the last day she will be afraid.

It stops tonight.

One way.

Or another...

MatiasJ, thankyou very much! I love yours a lot too! The expression of the demon is just brilliant! And the whole idea was really cute!

Virtiolic, thankyou! :) I hope to improve more though, and I am excited to participate around here! ^^ Though still rather nervous! ^^;

Joe morgan, I love the sketchy feel of it! :D Also the funny expressions of the skulls!

Great job everyone! Keep it coming! :D

90 min/artRage + PS/Pentagram

http://members.lycos.co.uk/pmceglowski/139tak.jpg

Well it's not exacly what I wanted to do but at this moment I cant use
any program that well to create everything I imagined :(
And abaut ArtRage: As I'm complete noob in digital drawing/painting (till now
I used PS to mix my photos and its sth completely different) ArtRAge is quite
good solution before I'll know how to use painter and PS to draw/paint.

Hope You like this picture, and GL for You all, YOu do great job here!! :D

Hi everyone, my second post on this forum, love all your works, very motivating! I gave it a try with vector graphics, had a proper sketch though, about 1 hour on the vector, 15 minutes on the original sketch and 3 hours (waaaaaaaaaay too much) trying to make my sketch look like I have a wacom or something (very stupid effort). So the entry is late and I did note that.

Been a few long weeks. School is a harsh and bitterly jealous mistress. I'll try harder from now on, but every day is not likely! Heres something I did today with ball point.
The kiss of death, fat'lill-man-Mafia style.
