Use the type tool and type: "3d graphics".

Here's an example: http://img3.exs.cx/img3/8897/a38.gif

In Photoshop

Go to FILTER > RENDER > 3D Transform

next thing you know people will be askign how to create top notch art with PS..Ha! You know what I do in such a case; attach a screenshot that contains the filter/other/create beautifyl art... 'option'

Believe it or not, but I've met people who then ask me what version of photoshop I'm using, because they can't find the menu option! LOL

A few weeks ago someone (who loves to shoot with film) wrote this about photographs taken by digital cameras:

Although I have seen some very impressive digital works on screen, I reserve higher praise for prints that reflect the artistic skill and craftmanship of their makers vs. computer-generated images that illustrate the powers of software programs.

So I posted this image:

Then someone replied very serious with this;

"I don't have, and have never looked at, Photoshop - so I ask this question in perfect innocence:

Is THAT an ACTUAL menu option?

And if it is - how well does it work?"

And I replied with: "I met a lot of dumb people in my life, but..."

After which he replied with: "Now, now. I asked in all innocence - and I don't put ANYTHING past today's software writers."

I tell you.... :D

Bah, ignore those trolls.

You can do 3d in photoshop by downloading a proper plugin. But why? It's pointless, while we have a number of software combining functions of 2d and 3d and, finally, bunch of great 3d applications. So, where's the point?

You can do 3d in photoshop by downloading a proper plugin. That's complete false information, You can't do any descent 3D in Photoshop, unless you consider 3D modeling making a cilinder, globe, rings, 3D text or using existing models....
No, not even programs like Aurora, Verdant, 3D Invigorator, come even close to a basic 3D program like http://www.anim8or.com/

But hey, I don't blame you as 15 year old for this lack of knowledge, but it was important to correct you, after all we don't want to be spreading the wrong information right?

Elysian, ofcourse you don't understand the word of 3d. 3d means - 3 dimensions. Right? I do not want to start another idle flamewar, but you're talking bullshit. Simple 3d can be done with a proper plugin... I don't say about anything more complicated than that. But, there may be proper plugins to make a little bit more complicated 3D. But it is enought to be called "3d".

It doesn't make photoshop a 3d application, of course. And yes, I consider "cilinder, globe, rings, 3D text or using existing models.... ." as a 3D, if they are three dimensional. It's obvious. Even if you can't model, it's still 3d, isn't it? And the question was "Can i make 3d?" So, if 3d text is three dimensional (at least judging the name, it is) it is an answer for this question... Your logic is poor, mate.

I'm same "playstation junkie" as you "old fart". Peace.

You're absolutely right and you inspired me to try it out and guess what?! You don't even need a plugin; I just managed to make some cool 3D text by combining 30 layers of which each one was shifted by 1 pixel up/right.

Great, now I can sell Cinema 4D!

Thanks AbueroAllenstein!!
