Looks great, whats the story behind it?
How come the planet only has cities (assuming there cities) at the two poles of the planet?

Wow, with a style like that I almost hate to see it go 3D (this will be a 3D piece right?).

My only suggestions at the moments are that the object at the bottom is too blurred - so blurred it almost counts as just blank space. My opinion, either sharpen it up a bit (so you can tell what it is at least), or crop the bottom entirely. Maybe make it a creature making some goofy face while holding onto the debris, would kinda fit. :)

That's one badass ship or a very small planet...or is it a moon. Not very dense moon either if a ship can fly through it. But either way I love the style.

My suggestion is that a planitary body (even a moon) has some type of molten core. Given how round that body is it should have some sort of ozzy lava type stuff spewing out of the cracks. Looking good as an image though!

Thans en advanced for all coments...
first a little description...

The image is based on the disappearance of the first Iset moon.

The investigations carried out after the facts point to a geometric deviation in the navigation maps as the cause of the event.

Result: of the hundred of millions of inhabitants of this great moon, only escaped
some thousands, and that thanks to the quantity of ships placed around the whole planet whose majority resource was the trade and supply with the colony. -

The biggest political repercussion was the lost of the house of Anteosh, leaders' dynasty and navigators that they governed (and quite well for
certain,) in this sector of the galaxy. Then the chaos, successive wars for the control of the trade destabilized the communication with the colonies
and they created an unstable area in all the aspects.

Once located historically, we will locate ourselves visually,... in the image very varied styles of ships must be seen that would identify different

merchants' races and navigators, all escaping radially from the planet in forecast of the shock wave that an explosion of the planet could
become.

The main caracter a ship-world Ardhana that impacts very slowly against the moon and for that reason it crosses it and doesn't destroy it.

The rest explosions, etc...

Thank you

Miss Hippo

Hey,

love your concept....i also like your 2d sketch...very unique and very colorful. I have one comment on ur modeling of the planet or the moon. It's just that it looks like a soft balls that has been pinched in the middle. It doesn't look like something has crashed into it. The edges of the moon shouldn't be inwards and it looks like it has wrinkles on it. Hope it this helps you rather than confuses u. Good luck!

Clanger

What a great idea, looking forward to see this develop.
One thing you might want to consider is; I'd guess such a huge space ship hit the moon would look like an aeroplane diving into the sea with a huge ripple racing around which would probably just fly off into space as it went.

After thinking of the designs of the ships, I have decided that it could be more dramatic an impact of two non aerodynamic objects.

I have reflected the suggestions of Miss hippo and the good idea of the clanger wave that you will see in the next one post.

Thanx for your time

I believe that it has won dramatic character, with the new design and that of the ripples seems me a success. Some suggestion?.

yes he already has some I think to add particles effect and clouds too, but the intention was that the impact was very slow. As if the collision took place when the ship brakes.

Thanks.

Nice work. I like the overall composition, but I think I would like to see a dissipating atmosphere on the planet. It might add just another degree of massiveness to the scene so that the audience realizes that this is planet and not a barren moon. Although, if it's intended to be a moon then I think it's fine.

kaajey
11-02-2004, 05:18 PM
Maybe you should add some dust near the collision place
and a little atmosphere would be fine as for me...

That is what I call a crash:twisted: But seriously, it looks great, the mood is wonderful. But I would light it up a litle bit. It seems to dark to me, and the detalis are hardly seen. But of course I wouldn't use white light to make it brighter, only red/orange/firey and maby a litle blue from the left. Good work so far:thumbsup:

Are there going to be some other objects in the scene? I see that collision as a part of background and there are other ships around observing that emergency situation and may be some characters emotions on foreground.

In the initial sketch around the scene the situation is of exodus. A death escape of a exploding planet. A lot of sheeps scaping quickly...

A limit situation...

Looks good but I think the scale is out of whack. The planet looks too small compared to the ship. It looks like about the size of an asteriod and without any other objects in the scene, there's nothing else to guage as a reference.

DigitalOmega
11-04-2004, 02:59 PM
hehe that'ss a cool idea man! i like it, as you might know the scale can be a little tricky on this one, but, if you add enough details and everything it maight look even better than now!

good luck!

plaguelord
11-04-2004, 02:59 PM

I agree about the scale, maybe some items for reference or adjusting the planet.

oneir0s
11-04-2004, 05:40 PM
I agree too the scale is the enemy. but I believe that the planetary proportion against the ship is not the problem... Others objects maybe... the ships that abandon the planet I don´t know

Great work so far but I have crits about the scale of the scene :

The ship and the planet are nearly the same size which is possible of course. But I think this is the main problem. One should be really bigger than the other, that would give you a strongest composition.

These are my thoughts at first glance...

As tells deadly force the composition I don't like it me too , you are right in the comparison of sizes. And the alignment maybe neither is the ideal.
And the impact is also hide a little.
They even lack 3 - 4 ships more and shading everything.

i liked the composition before this one a bit better...

now the ship in the foreground somehow seems to melt with the big ring in the background. You may wan to move it a bit down and to the left again.

I'd probably get rid of the green and go for some color or tone that's already somewhere in the image, so you get a more solid color compo.

Just some thoughts. It looks really promising!

The image is looking great, but I'm not sure if the first left green ship is working. I'm not able to tell if it's attached to the crashing piece, or not. It also is fighting for the main focal point of the piece, and I would almost say the piece would be stronger if it played more of a minor role. Just an opinion, other wise keep it coming.

I think I like the planet in the earlier image better because it's rather hard to see the planet in the last. It ends up fadeing into the blackness a bit too much. What would happen if you pulled the sun around towards the camera a bit more to light more of the planet, or even lighten the planet texture a bit?

Pretty cool Collision-Big Space Station, I think you could put more debri into the collision. And make the planet fall more apart to make it seem like a real collision, i would have put in less stars into the space. Too many of tham. Also would help with puttong shock waves around the collision. But anyway i really like the Ship designs and The ship blasting off from the planet. It-ed be pretty cool if a station would be built that big one day. I give it 5 of 5. An' two thumbs up...:thumbsup:
