Hey all! I had some problems with my other account so I created a new one, I will stop using the other one (rarely used it anyway :P)

Well, I'm nowhere near going to get close to any bit of level I've seen here but well, since I'm such a space freak I just... HAVE... to enter :(... It's stronger than me! :D

Anyways, really cool contest, and I hope I'm going to make it in time :D

@Voutlooz (I don't know when the moderators here'll approve this so just to be sure :D) Yay! :bounce: Thanks for the welcome! I'm probably not that much of a reinforcement though :P. Maar, ik vind de andere Nederlandse entries die ik zover heb gezien er erg gaaf uitzien

AAARRRGGHHHH, I lost my entire synopsis due to some weird error, that sucks, was quite a story too... OK, here we go again :banghead:

So, I knew immediatly that I didn't want to do a battle or something, so I had to find some other kind of epic event. Thought a little and came to epic engineering --> The construction of a planet (out of an asteroid belt and some comets and stuff).

Synopsis: The Clentari are a race of homesick settlers, who leave exploring to the foolish, and prefer to stay at home in their safe little cradle. However, since they've got superb health care and don't care much on setting a limit on offspring (Family is extremely important in practically all of their cultures) they need a little room to breath ('Cause they're one step closer to the edge, and they're about to... oh wait, differen't song ;) ). Having already settled every planet and moon in they're system, purely out of necessity, they decided that creating an extra planet themselves was preferable to travelling all the way to other stars, so they decided to do just that.

Luckily their planetary system features an asteroid belt, relatively close to the habitable zone, so once they turned the asteroids into planetesimals and those into the planet, it would require relatively little pertaforming to make it habitable.

To make sure building the planet would be done as efficiently as possible, the CGPAA (Clentari Governmental Planetary Architect Administration) gave out competitive contracts to the lowest bidder, paying per kilo asteroid. This resulted in a plethora of different carrier spacecraft and other kinds of technology transporting the asteroids towards the central construction site, where the asteroids are melted and joined to form the new planet.

Now, the construction is well underway, a lot of asteroids are already incorporated into the main structure, and some of the more adventurous and hard-pressed Clentari have actually already settled on the planet while it's still under construction!

Solar sails have been tied to comets which slowly nudge them into an orbit which takes them on a collision course for the planet when it's ready, to bring plenty of water and other gasses to the planet to form the basis of an atmosphere and ecosystem.

OK, that's about it, I'm still looking for some kind of element on a a more personal level to add to the story, if anyone has any good ideas, I'm all ears :p

OK, So, this is the first concept sketch, it shows the beginnings of the planet, with some settlements already on it, and a piece of the asteroid belt with the asteroids all closing in on the planet (In the final image this will be with different kind of ships/engines/sails/chains/<enter weird/original technology I haven't thought of yet here> but this is just a bit for composition)

In the background a comet on its way to supply the planet with water

Oh yeah, and I know it's crap, I kinda suck at this 2D stuff :p. However, any C&C on the composition, or cool ideas to add are always greatly appreciated!

OK, thanks for reading!

OK, another concept sketch, here I've added a framework and some kind of melting machine to the planet, also added some spacey background thingies for fun. This was basically to try how it would look around a star, I think I'm going for just the planet and the asteroids/comets though, because

a) The proportions in the second image are horribly wrong and
b) focusing on a smaller part gives me ability to put more ships and stuff in it and show more details on those, and I think I'll prefer that to seeing some rocks and some more stars and nebulas :P

Edit: I'll put up some conceptual spacecraft later and ofcourse, C&C is still greatly appreciated :)
