Well done sir!!
It's looking great, it would be nice to see a better shot of the beast in the back left taking the spears in the chest. That whole part of the scene with the guys throwing the spears and the beast reeling back deserves to be seen, although I realize it's hard without widening the shot, which would result in having to re-render the whole thing....eeeeeeeeeeep!!!
My crappy monitor won't allow me to get a nice close up of everything, if it were mine, I'd move the rocks in the back on the far left, up on to the ridge in the back on the far right, it will fill up that spot back there and allow us to see the beast's head better on the left. If it's not too much to ask...hehehehe.... I wonder what one of the drop ships would look like coming in to land on the far left, (if you were to move those rocks) it would allow us to see the fine details you put into those ships close-up.
That's my two bits, hope it helps.
Cheers bud!!

thnaks ryan...I appreciate your input...with all these things going on it's hard to see everything without looking at the full hires pic with is 2400 pixels wide......when I finish I'll show you all a huge version and you'll see it all...I know I want to see more of the speared beast too but he was a last minute addition and there really is no other room for him..trust me I've tryed everything....
there actually will be drop ships in the left corner.....receding off into the distance..that's the last layer I work on right now....

Very cool.
I like the overcast feel to it.
It's gloomy.
If you have photoshop or anything for that matter you can play around with some color filters to get the look you want.
I would try to seperate the foreground from the background a little more.
pick one element of the fight and focus on that. contrast, saturation ect.
can be the highest in the area you want the viewr to look at. everything else is a supporting member.
good luck

I love the picture. The blue version is slightly better, maybe. I'm in the 2D competition, wish I could model like this:)
The only thing I would like to see is some more atmosperic effect. Everything looks so sharp so it gives a bit the impression of toy soldiers. Som kind of haze maybe? This is only a small detail. Very well done!

First of all I want to say a huge thanks to everyone who's support I've had throughout these 3 months of solitude....I have learned a great deal from you all, and hope I had something you learned from too.. ....now If I know CGTALK...we will all have about 3 months to talk about these images before they are judged.. ;) ,,but Here,,for what it is..is my Final for CC's.....
I still will have some time to make any small changes if but I think this is about it...I feel I realized what I had in my head well.....and that's all an artist can ask for....
The Brotherhood Space Opera )))
Living a peacful life for generations farming and preserving their pristine land, the Bas`Cal started as settlers who fled the earth after it became unhabitable...Their settlement turned into a world,,their stories legends,,,they had a true harmony with the universe.....
The Ta'Gag are a brutal race of space Pirates.....moving from one world to another in their conquest. They have managed (through many deaths) to train a vicious beast known as the Gilrog for battle, and that has made them nearly unstopable.....
....This story follows one of these groups of Savages ....the Bas,Cal are un aware that a precious iron-ore similar to gold sits in the ground beneath their feet......
..and it has caught the attention of the wrong group of strangers.....
..now this brother hood of humans must fight for the first time in centurys to protect their lives, and their world.....
..will the heart of man prevail once again...... or will the Ta`Gag and the Gilrog destroy another world.....
..this space opera unfoldS )))

Outstanding my friend, absolutely outstanding!!
I'm glad you got that beast getting nailed into view, thanks for the close-ups too, i'll have to stare at them for a while yet before i can take it all in.
Unfortunatly, I can't compare it to anything, Yours was the only 3d thread i followed, the whole time, I tried to stick to the 2d side on this one, one step at a time, you know?
You know where my allegiances lie, it could be a 2 second teapot, and you'd still get my vote.
great man, reall, really great, I love it!!
That sky? awesome!!
send me an email with a 300dpi res, i'll print it off at work on my Edge and send you a copy! Then you could hang it on the wall. It's worth it. Printing it out on paper won't do it justice. You should be proud my friend, with all the other stuff you take care of on a daily basis, finishing this project is a feat in itself!!
NO SLEEP!! Technorganics await!! You're the foundation here dude, you can't build a house without a foundation, you should know that of all people. HAHAHA:bounce:

Nice work Jeremy:thumbsup:
Full marks for imagination dude thats cool.
I can see you have put heaps of effort in here and the scene looks very good.
My only thoughts with this image is the lighting and lack of shadows i think that shadows would have really added to this image. Maybe there is shadows but i think if they were a little more noticeable it would ground the subjects more.I know that it really played a big part in what i have just worked on and shadows really help to put the feet on the ground.Well I hope you do well dude good luck.

fixed a few little things...hard to catch everything in a complicated scene....just minor fixes but why not with the extra time...darkened the shadows a bit to...

Hi Jeremy,
No crtitics here Jeremy, but I have one question: why you took off the mountains from the background? I think that the mountains in the background were a good addition to the general mood of the scene. I know it`s late for this kind of question, but I very curious about that. Even without the mountains in the background the scene rocks.
Once again, no critics ( I`m not the one who can criticize you) to your great battle scene.
Take care and Good Luck Jeremy!!

...Proctavian...I tryed a version of the composition with the mountians in the BG...but it was just "to much" you know what I mean...It drew the eye avay from the battle, the clouds decending into the haze of the battle worked better for this image....thanks for your support mate, hope my explenation makes sense...sometimes hard to put artistic decisions into words as I'm sure you know....

Hey team,,,,I'm posting now a "medium" res of my final for one of 2 reasons.....
..1 I promised it a bit back...
...2 I'm a bit pissed 'bout the way they are displaying Widscreen entrys in the voting pages....You can hardly bloody see theM their so small ! It's the way they have thier page borders set up I know for portrait and Landscape ratios...but I though they might have expanded it for us widescreen folk.....guess I should quit bitchen....... :banghead:
Anyways Here a medium-Res also for those that are voting... :p

Yeah, that is a pain in the butt; makes me thank goodness I didn't go with my initial plan of making the entry landscape.
(EDIT:for the record: I didn't know that this problem would occur with the judging of the entries. I choose to use portrait rather than landscape because I thought it would be more dynamic for my image. jeez...)
(hmm... maybe I should post a high-res version of my entry on my thread? - even with the new jpegs, they still don't have the detail that the original Tiff had)
essencedesign
01-22-2005, 01:42 AM
Well...I'm not trying to sound like a pain in the ass here really....but lets assume that instead of 2400 / 1100...I go ....1100 / 2400....the oposite ratio...then the ENTIRE pic would be displayed ....perhaps I should have thought about this before...but I thought they would have some way of "evening" out the ratios on the page....i dunno but i'm peeved dude...

Essencedesign:Man I really like half of what you got here. And the other half I dont care for much. The modeling is Ok,not too smooth, and in some places look better than OK.The textures are average to above.
I just think things are off key or jumbled,no rhyme or reason for the most part.I alsso liked the earlier mountains man.Still all and all a good entry, and a chance at a top 15.good luck dude.:)
