View Full Version : problems with animating
insectoidone 10-22-2004, 02:01 AM hey guys, okay, i think this is my last help me topic, and its one that really need some help on. i've animated a ring spinning, but when it gets to the last couple of frames, it slows down. how do i make it so it spins without slowing down so its a seamless transition?

perhaps animate it faster?
sorry for sounding smart but i dont understand the question very well -
you need to give more details -
how did you animate it in the first place - hand keys - dynamics (which dynamics)- scripts - expressions ect...
also seamless transition to what?

If you want something to move at a constant speed, without any ease on the tangents, then you need to set the keys to "linear".
If that doesn't make sense pop open the help and search for "Curve Editor Overview" and it'll give you the lowdown on various tangent types and what to do with them.
cheers

i looked around in the help file, and couldn't find anything to help me. so i went into the surve editor and found the linear thing, and put it on the x(green) but it still kept stopping at the end of the time. this is confusing!

Are you trying to keep it spinning after the last frame? I'm not sure I'm understanding your question. If you want to keep the ring automatically spinning after the last key you need to set your out of range type. (Loop, pingpong, etc...) This also can be done from the Track View.
Check out this quick and dirty sample that I put together.

Hope that helps

No, I think what your after is this...
1. Select ring
2. Goto curve editor
3. Select the two points/keys which create a curve on the graph
4. Click on the red STRAIGHT line tangent located near the top to get rid of the curve.
You now have a constant animation.
