I read this from the max mannul

Typically you assign it to a material's Bump component, Displacement component, or both.

My question is when I assign the normal bump to a displacement component, I didn't succeed, never to say using both the components

I believe you have to use MR or another raytracer that understands displacement direction based on rgb values.
