I am getting strange artefacts, in the refelctions using particles and mr. I have an object with a reflective material assigned and a enviroment texture assigned to the redflexion channel (somthing like a blue sky)

now I take an emitter with lets say blobby particles, but now when I render this situation wit mental ray I get black squares in the reflection of the particles.
I know that this artfacts also ocure in other mental ray render situations, but I dont know how to help it

I am not sure but, maybe you could crank up the resolution if you are using dept mapped shadows. It could also be a result of your render settings.

I have a problem that's been driving me crazy for 3 days now! I'm learning Mental Ray right now and the shader networks in Maya. I've been experimenting with the Miss_fast_skin_maya and I've been getting amazing results. The problem is that when I try to apply a bump map, I start getting artifacts in my renders. The artifacts consist of little black squares around the edges of my model. I've asked around and the "black squares" problem seems to be common on MR, but no one seems to know how to solve it. Can anyone PLEASE help me!
