Tanguy Bodivit has entered the Grand Space Opera 3D.

Challenge Page (http://www.cgnetworks.com/challenge/grandspaceopera/view_entries.php?challenger=4478)

Latest Update: Texturing: harbor_1 with a little bump texture

Hi all, happy to be there.
This sketch try to explain a "huge contrast" between a planet and an donut space center.
The ship wich is in approach is temp... i would like put an organic alien ship like in "abyss". So, it's the birth of a long story...
Thank you to tell me anythings wich walk on your mind about this.

I like the blocking that you have on the image. Nice contrast of near and far + technology mixed with planet.

This is the new view of my "S.H.R" (Space Harbor Ring). There will be few huge ship dock to the ring 1 and 2. thousand og little and median ship around and to the dock to. A Ship field will be created with the thousand little ship around the two ring.
Tell me what you think please.

Ok, now i know where i go, so, i start the modeling of a ring part.
i ll mesh 3 or 4 pieces and then, i weld them together. That way give me the possibility to create a huge industrial complex belt call "Startospher Ship Landing Base"... a S.S.L.B ! LOL
Oki, now i have to go, so see you soon !

<< The first pice of Stratospher belt >>

i don't know if i work on a greeber base or not.
I think i ll use greeber for the far part of my viewpoint.
So i think to work in full modeling for the first piece.
I ll post a sketch of the belt part tonight.
See you soon.

Hey man awesom concept...actually something I haven't seen done before with the space station as the rings...great...just make sure that the veiwer knows that the rings are around a plantet...that is make sure it is featured properly in the composition..maybe bring the perspective down and to the right a bit...that will seel the whole idea  ..Keep going this one is going to be great !

thanks man, i ll work on it later, but, you are right. I like your critic.
Thanks. now i model this famous ring...

• Your ring station around the planet is a great idea, first when i saw your first sketch I thought to myself : " hey, what about an artificial station around the planet like in saturn?" but then i read your idea and surely you came first with it:lightbulb ;)

• keep the inspiring work! and greetings to the lovely Paris

tanguy
10-30-2004, 07:46 PM
hey climax, you re right about the saturn ring idea.
My first idea was: maybe, one day when we will be able to go there ourself, we ll find something like that around saturn...or something like this.
So, now, i'am nearly this point of view, but i think i change the kind of planet gravitation.
Maybe i use an aerthlike planet. maybe but not sure.
Thanks man, ill go and see your thread too. 8-)

I can help you but actually, too many work on air.
What i can do is really simple.
give you few tips and more.
But first, i need to know what you want exactly...
Do you want to learn the generic GI or a special GI like MR, Vray, Brazil, FR ?
I need this info..
bye, and have a nice G.S.O.Challenge.
Good luck

i am starting the finel ring.
And it s not easy to work with scale like 10 or 20 km, i have to think around it...
Because i have to much problem of object scale.

hello, i am testing an other way to present the huge distance of my ring plateform wich is repeat all over the planet .
I don t know what kind of planet i ll use later.
maybe an earthlike planet, for a chock picture.
So, we will see.

Hi tanguy..............A very large scale.I am reminded somewhat of Treasure planet.I think it really is a big undertaking to go for,20 Km's and all.But I applaud the attempt and go for it attitude.Your plan looks good, and I think you will get there.I hope too to see as much close up work as well, with the large scale backdrop included beyond it.........Ok nice ambitious project I like that very much.Best of luck, and keep it going strong.:arteest:

hey mate....nah, dont worry....its not something thats urgent, i just though tham maybe u have some tutorials on basic GI, or maybe on Brazil GI cuz thats what i use. Cuz i kinda didnt get those in Max 5 help, and i gave up on getting it...lol....i kinda always have problems when i need to make lights in the scene, so maybe later on in the challenge you can help me with few tips how to make better lighting of my scene :)

take care

Hi,

Your work is looking good. I like the ring and the ships, however, the planet looks too close. If I didn't know it was a planet, I wouldn't be able to tell. Also, what is the main conflict if there is one. Good luck!

So, maybe it s time to explain my GSO vision.

First, the big picture is earth in few millenaries. We have a central place in the galaxy admin system. i don't know why...but that's the truth. Central place force the earth to build a huge Orbital Harbor Ring. they think it should be the best way in offer all the possibility on an intergalactique astroport for all who have to come in the Galaxy administrativ center.
The build time was approximatly over 75 years around the 35Th Century of the "Consolidation period". Now this orbital dock is the largest of known space.

It could accept any kind of space ship...of any race of any technology. It is quite simply about most beautiful the interface of communication ever imagined and carried out by the galactic race. Its diameter is of 21576 km and it weights 1 trillion tons. Its distance from the surface of the ground is of 100 km.

The record of request for accosting for one period standard is 756 million.
All ever the galaxy, everyone agrees for saying that this Orbital harbor is the greatest interface of multiracial exchanges.
Now i ll try to show you how it is really huge.

Thanks

This is a super idea, it definitely has the massive or iconic feel to it.So far the modeling looks nice. The first dock is looking good, keep up the good job.
