Ok, I am jumping on board for my first challenge here. I am working out the concepts in my head and hope to have a prelim sketch in a day or two.

Since I am new at this comments will be much appreciated!

First concept sketch of my idea for the Space Opera challenge. First off, there is too much going on in this image, I need to pare down my ideas and simplify the concept (or at least spread them out with more appropriate spacing). (I had too many good ideas...what you'd call a "high quality problem"!) Second, I am not a sketch artist so this is very rough.

This is my first challenge. Any and all comments are much appreciated.

God bless!

Simple concept sketch for the fighters that come off the "Spacecraft Carriers" for both the opposition and friendlies. Color stripes will denote whose fighters are whose.

Early layout of the fighters. No real detail or greebles yet. Just laid a simple texture and background to get an idea.

I am new at this so all comments are welcome.

God bless!

Ship's looking good but I do think it should have more of a taper from front to back, as in the drawing; maybe even a bit more, to make it look chunky.

The ship has an original design.

Fact is, everybody seem to take into account aerodynamics, but if we're in space, they won't count so much. Vertical development of a spaceship is justified as much as horizontal and slender.

Thanks for your comments. I agree, the ship needs more of a flare in the width to make it more realistic. I think that will help, I wasn't happy with it last night when I posted it and went to bed.

Will attack it again and see how it goes.

God bless!

Another test of the fighter WIP. I like this one better, and have started with a couple of the simple details. Many more greebles to add, and I just plopped a texture and background in to see how it works.

Let me know your thoughts...

God bless!

Here is an update of the fighter concept with some simple greeble'ing. I am going to put some more on behind the cockpit and on the sides of the missle batteries, but that may be about it for this model before texturing, etc.

Please let me know your thoughts...

God bless!

Hey wow! I like all of the rockets there! Cool! The only thing that seems a little out of place is the cockpit. For such a cool looking fighter perhaps you could ad some more detail there or something. You know how an x-wing has that little window behind the main one? Something like that may help or just mor divisions in the glass. Just something to make it look a bit more evil heh heh!

I like your planet earth!

That is my two cents worth.
