View Full Version : Bed Matrix
MapRat 08-19-2002, 11:10 AM Hi,
I own C4D ver 5.2 and wanted to do a double bed with it. I've seen the standard 3ds max ver4 bed, and wanted to emulate the "wavy" scaled matrix. I tried deforming and waves but not to the desired effect. Btw, I'm only learning the program, so I might miss something. Could someone offer help/guidelines?
Thank you.

does 5.2 have hypernurbs?

Just nurbs. What did you have in mind?
well... I was hoping if you had HyperNurbs, which is SubDivision Surfaces, it would be easily re-creatable.
But since you don't, what you need to do loft one of the wave patterns then duplicate it over the surface of the bed, making sure that the end of the pattern (where the stitching is) is the same curve on each end so you can match hup loft curves.
That's teh only way I could think to do it with C4D nurbs...

Thanks, I'll try it out.
Hope it works.

Hello, Grey.
I have HyperNurbs, and despite not building a bed myself, I'd like to know the procedure. It might come to be handy sometime.
it actually wouldn't be all that different from standard nurbs as you'd have to follow the pattern with polygons in pretty much the same manner...
when I get home I'll try to create a couple of files that'll work...
this is an XL6 file I did with loft curves and instances... very simple
here's another with hypernurbs and instancing

Thanks a lot, Grey. I'm sure it will prove helpfull sometime.
Wish others that also dloaded drop by to thank you at least.

Thanks, Grey. I downloaded it too. Didn't have the time to check your solution yesterday, but with the addition of the files, I hope to be able to do it.
MapRat, I don't think you'll be able to open the files, unfortunately. I don't have a C4D release prior to XL6...

Oh, Bummer!
Thought it might be version independent or something. You're right I couldn't open it. Anyway, with a little practise, I think I can apply the method you suggested. Thanks in any case.
