SOFTIMAGE XSI, is it better than Maya?

This is the first that I have heard of SOFTIMAGE XSI...
Now I have heard of Maya and 3ds, but never this software...
I have worked with Maya, and I was drawn to this software because of the price reduction, so my question is...

Can this software do everything that Maya can?

everything not, dinamics and nurbs in maya are better, but animation, subd, render and poly modeling are better in xsi.

Your just begging for a(nother) flame war.

There is plenty of previous discussions on XSI (and other software for that matter) on this board - use the search function...

Oh god, not one of these threads again !!!

If I might make a suggestion....

Why not try Softimage EXP and see for yourself?

Trying to judge what software is better is a lot like trying to judge what woman is more beautiful -- it all depends what your needs are and what sort of things you like :)

So my best advice is to stop and nip this thread in the bud before a software WAR starts.

Just try XSI for yourself -- you are the best judge

Cheers,

I agree with the other guys, this has been done to death. However It's hard to ignore a $499 price tag.

Personally I don't think it really matters which software you use?

3DS Max, Maya, SoftImage.

The main point is "how well you can use the tool?" Software is only a tool, it's the artist who can create the artworks. I've seen people use 3DS Max, Maya, and SoftImage and created awesome equally good artworks.

Just my opinion :D

DO NOT start threads like this again as I'll just close them.
