Godday to all,
Well recently in my adventures in maya I found that set driven key is an idaspensible function , in the rigging of character.
Is there such an option in max?

Basically what I am trying to do it great attributes for the hands and had that through set driven keys can change , say expressions of the face and hands.

Any help on this would be greatly appricited as this rig is for a project I am currently working on.

thanks for you time

take care

There is The Reactor Controller, but i think is very limited in comparision with Maya's Set Driven Key.

although not as easy as setdrivenkey, script controllers can do this quite well in max. another possibility is parameter wiring, although i heard it was kind of buggy in max4. maybe it's better in max5?

yikes!

rendering from Maya in Max

you could potentially bring in a copy of your character from Maya at each frame of the animation'

by writing Mel and Max script to automate the process

the file sizes will be huge

why can you just render you work from Maya and composite the Max work together

It might be possible to bridge across from Maya to Max for rendering using the Filmbox plugins. Check out www.kaydara.com for details.

Also, just wanted to note that the equivalent of set driven key in Max is parameter wiring, and it is not buggy, you just have to know how to use it properly. It also helps if you gain an uderstanding of controllers and how they can interact through wiring to get good, versatile results. The example of hand and facial controls is completely feasible using parameter wiring and custom attributes in Max.

Thanks for the replies. Well I want to render in max because 1. I know how to make half decent materials and 2. We have been testing V-ray and its super cool expacially with the latest update:)

Considering what has been said about about sizes of files I will consider the transfer an unlikely option. Considering last night I decided to sit down and learn how to use wiring:)

I'd like to thanks everyone who replied, very helpful and useful tips. All help is was greatly apprciated.

take care
