Hey guys, awhile back i posted a hummer that i had been modeling and working on

http://www.frag-ops.com/g0st/hummer16.jpg

I had worked on the skin a little, the old one is here: http://www.frag-ops.com/g0st/hummer34.jpg

After loads of work and me still being a noob skinner i am quite happy with some of the end results

Crits are more then welcomed, the last renders are self illuminated so you get the real skin look. I will be making a nice render soon enough but before i do tell me what you think =)

First :bounce: . Oki now I can crit something:) I hope You will change that blue wheel. It looks, hmm cartoon and no realistic. Strange I thought that the hammers don't have so big "pipe". Shortly when driver look at the back mirror he won't see anything else. If I wrong, give me/us some referencies. If I remember under the barrier on the front, wasn't anything under it. Oryginal grill havn't so many balk (?) / beams .
After that I must say that the mesh is very cleantexture looks very nice. Yopu want dirt it a little or so clean it will be??
Finaly looks very nice.
best

Yeah it is for a mod, i cannot say right now which but will go ingame and be fully driveable =)

The current tri count is 2900 and i have just added an interior which i am skinning now that is 400 tris, so overall 3300 triangles

Thanks for the comments, The wheels are right now Duds, they are not officialy and yeah i agree, look like poop. The exhaust pipe is fairly large like that, the images that Icersa posted was partial to my model, i may scale it down a little. Initially i had it all dirty but then my lead modeler told me to scrap that and make it cleaner. As for the front grill there is a version with it being so "bulky". Let me see if i can find the image....
Ah here it is

As you can see in that picture as well it has that part under it for towning things (mine isnt skinned with all that detail, im no skinner)

Thanks, im pretty happy with the product as well, first completed skin i ever made from scratch. Anyhow the exhaust will have a grating over it, thats what the white material is, i just havent figured out how to apply alphas maps in Max (maya man over here)

to be honest I liked the first grey version more, first one posted in this thread
its more balanced, the new one also has some positive spots but its more unbalanced now
if i look from a distance with half closed eyes to http://www.frag-ops.com/g0st/hummer62.jpg i basicaly see just one thing: the wheels, and all the other stuff is just dark and black
like the fence on the front and the one on top of the "engine roof" they are pretty much black
i also dont really like the exaust texture now, its also very dark and the patern on it looks random tho maybe thats still not done

what i do like is that the more contrast and black makes the whole stronger and come out better but in general a lot of the added black feels rather random and a little too strong

Nicely done! Are you going to model an m240 or TOW on top of that beast? I'm very impressed with your model. Well done.

Yeah i know what you mean, the black is very strong. I had a version where it was lighter, the hood vent, grill and framework basically but it looked really bad. The black i find gives more depth.

Yeah, i will be putting the m240 on top of it, behind the armor plating cover. It will be attached to the odd looking roof piece that rotates around the gunner position

looks cool man
i can see the working exaust now :)

but still, especially the front fence on the bumper and that ventilation thing on top of the car nose are really black and its kinda weird
if i wouldnt have know this was your intention it i might have thought its a bug or forgotten thing

absolutely beautiful, although it would look better if you turned up some of the effects on your video card, like anti-aliasing perhaps?

Nice model and the textures great. It looks like you're UVs are a bit scrappy in areas.

I'm looking at the big exhaust and the rims mostly (hope i got that right, i know nothing about cars). You should notice if you look yourself, there's a little stretching, nothing major but you want your mod to look as professional as possible, I hope.

Also, I think it would be worth spending the extra time to get the tyre texture right, the sides aren't really the same colour as the outside, and the little grip bumps in the tyre don't really line up with the side. Again, only minor but it has been bugging me.

Other than these I haven't noticed anything else, great model

thanks for the comments. Unfortunatly i do notice the tire stretching and i should get around to it. I have spent ALOT of time on this bugger and im glad its almost finish. I will try to fix it soon
