View Full Version : Grand Space Opera 2D Entry: Conrad Fuhrman
Conrad Fuhrman has entered the Grand Space Opera 2D.
I have several pages of concept art related to this project, but I thought I would post the one most relevant to the topic on hand. The bottom sketch represent the concept that will be used for the Space Opera Challenge.
Because there are so many different features to include with this illustration I came up with several backstories about the image.
The planet is half destroyed due to a war tens of thosands of years ago. This war was a struggle to control the power of Light and its use. Unfortunatly while the war was won by the right side, the amount of destruction involved left the planet without a sun. The power of light was then used to create an artificial sun from the destroyed section of the planet. The ring of sun revolves around the planet providing light and life to everyone.
The planet is colonized to its brink and a space station was built to support the amount of supplies needed for the planet. This spacestation was built within the destroyed section of the planets atmosphere, and allows a much smoother entry to the planets inhabitance.
The major ports of entry are used for smaller vessels on the space station, while light guided strips (imagine HUD with out the need of glass) guide in larger ships to the main circular dock.
The title of this project for me is: Destructive Innovation
