....Mutiny of Suckerpunch's Steambots & Cyclops Recon unit....The scene depicts the "Pivotal moment" when the revolt grew to a final clash.
These Steambots & Cyclops unit along with the Guardian walking guns had been created for Suckerpunch by the great Scalawag inventor,Brains a' Plenty...
However they had been mistreated, damaged and threatened,by Suckerpunch.Besides being overworked they had also been forced into lives of crime...
They were doing all the fighting, suffering all the damage while Suckerpunch, the biggest coward of all, remained safely hidden.
Besides there regular duties, they had been forced to pillage and loot while Suckerpunch kept up an appearance of innocence...
For them there was no other way to overcome the hiding coward than by mutiny...
You the viewer, may give the final outcome to either group depending on your sympathy and preference...

Revised storyline:
We pillage,we plunder,we loot without giving a hoot: A SCALAWAG STORY!..........................
__________________________________________________ _______________________________
The Scalawags of L'Eternel Are treasure seeking, rum swilling, skirt chasing, quest lov'in,battle hardened scoundrels that live by a long time honored code of pillage, plunder, ravage, loot without giving a hoot to our deaths with weapon and rum mugs in hand. They extort, pilfer, maraud, and embezzle. They are to the very bone a rough and gruff cutthroat clan of high sea and air space scoundrels, knaves and rascals.................
They fly high in steam powered steel steeds, beasts and terrors of the skies of L'Eternel....................Steel beasts and vessels of doom*......full of gadgets, contraptions, weapons, all provided to them by there leader and great Scalawag inventor Brains A'Plenty (BAP).......................
They inflame and ignite the grand cities of L'Eternel, they offer no mercy to the corrupt rich, they plunder and pillage with glee in there eyes.......They give to the less fortunate, and keep the other half .......Yes somewhere beneath there gruff and tough exteriors lie at least half a heart..............
In one of the grand cities ruled (Taken over) by the Scalawags there are magnificent games, battle to the death gladiator style, and all sorts of tests of strength and courage challenges........
In this one praticular city of L'Eternel (Scalawag ruled) is where this story (Pivotal moment) takes place.........This city has blood soaked stains, death is around every bend.Blood flows in the cities gutters and sewers..................
This praticular city is best known for it's Grand gladiator space style races, and incredible raceway (AKA The steel steeds stomping grounds).................These races are made up of both speed and battle..........To the bone tooth and nail they fly and roll upon the great tracks through the grand city, maiming and chopping at one another, some in flight, others upon the massive tracks themselves..........
As time passed, and wars outside of this praticular city gained steam, and more and more of this praticular Scalawag cities battling society died on battlefields and others went out on grand adventures for treasure, and loot,as well as to great Rum drinking holes/taverns,never to return due to death and imprisonment.................
This space opera brings us to a point in time when only two Scalawag warriors of this once Grand city survive.................A death city, all that was is gone, buried in ash, bones and covered in pools of blood..................
These two warriors will go on as all of this praticular Scalawag Clan has........in battle, massive steel steeds under them thundering and flying across the great raceway battle tracks of this once fierce, proud, and bloody city...................Only one will survive, only one will be left of this praticular Scalawag clan...................A sole survivor........The great past warriors would want it no other way...................
...........................................................................................................................
_____________________________________________________________________________
I will depict a "Pivotal moment" in this grand city of L'eternel. This moment will be the final battle/race to the death of this praticular Scalawag clan.A final race/battle for the last warriors, the last survivors upon the grand steeds of steel, upon the grand tracks surrounded by the lonely and lost once proud architecture................These warriors named "Gruff Bolttightner" named after his old occupation.......and Rumdestiller named after his favorite object will do battle to the death, and than there will be only one survivor..........You will see this final pivotal moment....................

virtuoso, great idea. it's really unique and stands out from the crowd, it'll be interesting to see how you play with the futuristic and retro aspect of things. I am looking forward to this. The premise is good, now it is the composition of your final piece that matters ;) I hope to see a picture that has several storytelling factors and of course, good characters to pull that off.
Really anticipating this one.

I am currently blocking out the planned scene...................It will be a vast set piece, with complex high level of detailed architecture................As I mentioned earlier I will be going for a Steam punk/retro futuristic meets Old World charm style and feel.............
I will showcase some designs of the Steam powered Steeds of Steel, and the Steel Dragon Vessels soon,I am just fine tuning at this moment.
I have also been doing some tests for Rock formations,terrain,ect...I plan on showing some extra cool formations within the set/scene..................
There will also be a few design/concepts coming of the Steam powered Scalawags,I am piecing together the plans for them now.
I have started on some actual modeling of props, vital pieces that will be placed within the vast scenes, these will show some of the overall style I am going for, these will be added to some gadgets.contraptions I have planned.I hope to show a couple of these props later tonite.................
.........................Ok then, thanks again for your interest and support.Time to get Grand with things and build this Space opera....................See you real soon.:arteest: :arteest:

Hi Michael,
happy to see you again.
The steam punk/retro style? Nice tastes. Your idea is great.
The sketch is great.Considering your sketch is a small portion of some of the architecture, definitely your scene will be really, really huge.
I`m very curious how you will combine the gothic looking from the sketch with the mechanical-futuristic steam punk/retro style stuff.
I`m shure you`ll kill a lot of polys.
Anctious to see your work in progress.
Good luck and be inspired!!
P.S. - As erilaz said, you have great chances to win the Community Award for your massive support to everyone during these challenges.

Love the old world style buildings - are they going to get some futuristic styling too?
Virtuoso
10-24-2004, 09:03 PM
simoncvy.........................Oh yes they are. This sure would'nt be a Space opera if they did'nt.I am mixing the Old World Style traditional architecture that you would find in many beautiful cities and towns of Europe, using traditional shapes and forms but adding a retro futuristic steam punk style to the mix.A style that has been my own for quite some time now.I quess alot of what you would expect from Jules verne and in some cases "Naboo" from Star wars...............Thanks for dropping by.
Back to the lab :wip: ............See you soon..............:arteest:

After reading your concept I have to sit down,man.... I love those old cities u've described and one of my "darling-scenes" of the StarWars Episodes1,2 is the Naboo-Battle in the city of princess Amidala.
A bit of gothic, with wide places, filgran stone bridges, nice parks, etc.... combined with that punked style i know it will be a blockbuster. Maybe you could put some archaic elements (like stone gargoyles, fountains and wells etc.) into....Hopefully I see some more beautiful sketches from u, and I'm very excited about your coming 3Ds ......
You're really on the right way imho:thumbsup:

More designs and 3D coming up.I will model and as I go piece together my final concepts for the vessels, stay tuned.Again thanks for your continued support and interest. And I'll be checking up on some of those organic creations of yours, love the idea you have there........:arteest:

Update on where I am at........................:wip:
1.) Fleshing out my Steeds of steel vessel design.
2.) Still sketching out the steel Dragon's extra contraptions.
3.) Finishing up the blocking out/layot of the set/scene.
4.) Putting the pieces together for the Steam powered Scalawags.
5.) Actually getting into the flow with some 3D Prop modeling.
:wip:
Below are some first look props for the set,I have many planned,a few extra objects that will flesh out the set in various areas...............
One of the lamposts, one of the telescopes, and one of the banner/flag posts........I have also started in on some of the foundation pieces for some of the architecture, some massive pieces that will fit in with the rock formations.I hope to show a first sample of one of the rock formations along with part of the first foundations tomorrow.........:arteest:
So below is a small taste,a warm-up for me,just getting into the groove of some of the style I will be going for...................Even Rome or a Space Opera were not built in a day.So here is my first step...................:arteest:

Designer2....................Thankyou.....:arteest: .......The style will be a mix of steampunk and Old world architecture. With a sprinkle of the city Naboo from Star wars.It will come to focus once more comes up.Again thanks for your words.
Versiden.............Yes a little tiny bitty bump.Just a quick touch for something extra.A little etched glass look.textures will be the thing for these creations, are'nt they always..........Thanks again.:arteest:
Damn, I have to confess that I really don't like old Steamtech-based universe, and so, I wasn't planning to post in your thread, as I thought I would not be pleased by any of your designs, and any of my post would have been biased.
But now, seing the modeling test pictures you've posted, I'm amazed : I love those twisted shapes, and especially the lampost (OMG, the light bulbs are GREAT!). I know it might not seem important to you, but for now, your universe is the first Steamtech-based universe I don't dislike :). Keep up such a good work, I'm subscribing to this thread.

Nice models so far, and extraordinary style of non-conventional design.
Anyway, please be carefull not to go away from theme too much.
Your design is nice but it reminds me of idilic atmosphere created by a sweet little bunch of people.Just watch out for this particular theme in challenge and be more focused on it.
Great work so far, keep up the good work.

Beautiful stuff. While I've got nothing against a good old hi-tech space battle or orbital invasion, it's really good to see something a bit different.
Nice machinery so far, and I'm really looking forward to seeing that pink feather duster turn into an alien plant.

Here is a first taste of the architecture..................I am creating foreground elements, background elements, and that all important Middle ground elements...............
The Steam powered STeel Steeds & Steel Dragons will be crossing these areas,I will be going for extreme high levels of detail,as well as some decent levels for the far off backgrounds...............
What I am showcasing below is one of the mid range buildings within the scene............What I have up as of now is just the buildings foundation structures,as well as a buildings private side terrace/balcony,complete with Bar-B-Q grill and extra large Plasma screen............This area has a small bridge that will come from the building. These structures/foundations will be atop giant Mesa formations that stretch to the skies.........I am currently finishing up the building for the shown foundations...........
So here is a first sampling of the architecture,I beleive that come texture time I will be able to really give this life................Stones.metals,and worn woods, with petrified wood to go along with it...................As well as lots of vibrant, other World plantlife covering many areas.................:arteest:
Again Thank you very much for your kind support..............

Thanks for reading, and I hope to be back with my next update soon................

Raceway battle tracks sounds absolutely enchanting. I envision Episode I and Gladiator all rolled into one here

Well James.................I'll try my best at mixing some enchantment with all the blood & Guts of hard core battle to the death elements.................. ..........I have always gone after showing two sides...the light with the dark. Each feed off of each other. The light seems more light with dark brooding elements near by.And vice versa, the dark always seems more sinister when light is near it........To me they go hand in hand, one cannot exist without the other.Blood and guts in a bit of a whimsical and beautiful surrounding......Ok,I'll update now.Thanks..............:arteest:

Here is an update of Luxury Suite #1.............These suites will tower over the grand raceway, there will be a few variations, all of the same style, but still quite different from one another. They will be set in a middle ground area, somewhere in-between the foreground and background.........The suites will be surrounded by much more of the raceways grand architecture.....................They will be alligned along it's borders set up at higher levels, above the main seating and taverns that surrround the grand track.......................They will be situated on twisted intricate rock "coral like" mesa's.The massive foundations are there for the purpose of gaining height as well as firm foundations...............It will be quite clear when things come together....................I have already started on Luxury suite #2......................I want to point out that the plantlife will be getting a "Finding Nemo like Texture pallette, and the actual architecture will be greatly improved looks wise with the texture work.Something I really look forward to.As of now here is Luxury Suite #1........ Thanks very much for the interest and support,it's worth a great deal to me........................:arteest:
